The age of social media has blurred the invisible line that separates fans from their favorite football players. These days, athletes can log in to X, Instagram, and Facebook to interact with their fans. Micah Parsons is no different.

Parsons frequently uses Twitter/X to give his fans a sneak peek into his personal and professional life. However, his latest activities have sent shockwaves throughout the world of football.

When fans dropped by at Parsons’ 586k+ strong X profile for the latest update, they discovered several changes. He had erased any trace of the Dallas Cowboys from the HUD.

Not only that, Parsons altered the profile picture with a quote from the Bible. “Micah 7:8… Even if I fall, I will rise. The Lord is my light.”

The tagline below his name flashed something different than it once did. “Penn State… TBD.”

Parsons made changes to his X profile in the wake of his standoff with the Cowboys regarding his halted contract negotiation. Despite his reputation as one of the best players on the Cowboys roster, owner Jerry Jones has no intention of paying the 26-year-old.

Jones and Parsons shared mutual respect, which stands on the brink of falling apart because the veteran owner refused to include the edge rusher’s agent, David Mulugheta, in the negotiation process.

Parsons began holding out of the Cowboys’ practice. Cameras regularly capture him observing his teammates running various drills.

However, the situation may have taken a turn for the worse after Jones held Mulugheta accountable for Parsons’ contract debacle. Parsons would have become the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history if Mulugheta hadn’t intervened. It can still happen.

If fans can recall, in 2024, CeeDee Lamb made the same move as Parsons. He removed any trace of the Cowboys from his X account and uploaded a photo with his ex-Oklahoma teammate, Hollywood Brown.

For a while, it felt as if Lamb wanted a reunion with Brown. Nearly every major outlet linked the All-Pro receiver with a move to Brown’s current team, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Eventually, Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million deal with $100 million guaranteed and a $38 million signing bonus to stay with the Cowboys through the 2028 season. So, perhaps fans are witnessing a repeat with Parsons following in Lamb’s shoes.

Chiefs defender believes Micah Parsons will remain at the Cowboys

Chris Jones is a three-time Super Bowl-winning defensive tackle and a darling of PFF. He constantly ranks in and around Parsons in the DPOY standings.

Jones went through a similar experience like Parsons ahead of the 2023 season. Despite racking up 15.5 sacks the previous year, the Chiefs refused to entertain his demand for a long contract.

The 31-year-old’s holdout continued past the Chiefs’ week one fixture. With zero trade interests from other NFL teams, Jones and the Chiefs were forced to make a truce. He signed a one-year contract and lifted the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.

Jones’ performance compelled the Chiefs to give him an improved deal. He penned a five-year, $158.75 million extension. Jones believes that Parsons is an elite player and the Cowboys will not risk losing him.

I don’t see Micah [Parsons] playing anywhere else but Dallas. I’m quite sure they’ll get it worked out. I think Dallas loves Micah. And I think Micah loves Dallas. And I think Jerry Jones will get it worked out.

Chris Jones said on Up & Adams

Parsons has played 63 games for the Cowboys since his debut in 2021. He racked up 256 combined tackles, 52.5 sacks, 63 tackles for loss, and 9 forced fumbles.
