The Dallas Cowboys haven’t figured out how they will pay Micah Parsons, but one thing is for sure: owner Jerry Jones wants the star pass rusher in Arlington beyond 2024. To accomplish their goal, the Cowboys must spend big, and judging by EVP Stephen Jones’ latest statement, they are willing to go the distance.
I can’t imagine there’s a scenario where he’s not wearing a star on his helmet.
Stephen Jones recently said when asked about trading Micah Parsons
Parsons’ sole focus right now is seeing the Cowboys somehow win the three remaining games and reach the wild card round. He isn’t ready to divert his attention to his contract.
As per reports, the All-Pro linebacker will sign a contract north of $40 million. This will make him the highest-earning defensive player in the NFL, surpassing the $34 million/year of San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa.
However, when reporters asked Parsons if he ever gave any thought to earning more than twice his current salary, the 25-year-old would prefer the Cowboys spend the money on players whose contracts are running out.
It would be nice to be surrounded by good players. Players are going to help you win championships. I want to keep as many guys as possible… I want to work with them as much as possible.

Even if the Cowboys honor Parsons’ wishes, he will still be one of the top-earning defensive players in football.
Micah Parsons revealed when he expects to get a new contract from the Cowboys
The Cowboys will talk business with Parsons regardless of how the current season ends. The only question is when? As per Parsons, he would prefer the talks to conclude before the training camp. Once that’s over, he can focus on the camp with a clear mind.

Moreover, Parsons hopes to see defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer return next year. From his point of view, Zimmer has done an amazing job, and he wants to learn more from him.
I don’t know what the coaching is going to be like. At some point, if I got to learn a new scheme. I would love to have Zimmer back….He has done a tremendous job. I would love to have him back.

As per Over the Cap, the Cowboys’ cap space is $19.808 million, which will improve by $3.5 million in 2025. If they cut a few players, an additional $5 million will be added to the total. Quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb occupy the majority of the cap space, and Parsons can join him once the deal is complete.
