Former Dallas Cowboys defensive edge Micah Parsons was all praise about his former quarterback, Dak Prescott. Parsons feels that despite the Cowboys’ inconsistent season, Prescott deserves and should be considered as one of the frontrunners for the Most Valuable Player award this year.
Parsons named Matthew Stafford, Jordan Love, and Prescott as the top contenders for the MVP honor and noted that they have been playing exceptionally well so far in the season.
I don’t think, besides Stafford, there’s a guy that’s playing better football (than Love). And Dak Prescott, he’s playing really good, too. Those three guys, I think, are playing the best football in the league right now.

However, the Dallas Cowboys’ loss at the hands of the Detroit Lions has taken a hit at their chances, and Prescott has been wiped out of MVP contention. They need to run the table and stay ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East in order to make their first postseason in two years.
And Prescott needs that run to re-emerge as someone people think is deserving of such honor, despite him being the league leader in passing yards. Dan Orlovsky differed from Parsons’ opinion and noted that the loss to the Lions saw Prescott writing himself off the MVP list.
Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye have made strong cases for the 2025 season’s MVP honor. Stafford and the Rams, despite a tumultuous offseason marred by trade rumors, have found a rhythm, and they have danced the right beat to the top spot in the NFC. The Rams’ passer has thrown 3,354 yards and 35 touchdowns. Stafford’s touchdown count is nine more than the second-placed Prescott.
The New England Patriots, on the other hand, are in a very close fight for the conference seed in the AFC against the Denver Broncos. The Patriots and Broncos are both 11-2 after Week 14. Maye has the best completion rate (71.5%) this season among quarterbacks with ten or more starts. He has thrown 3,412 yards (second-best in the passing yards category) and 23 passing touchdowns.
Both, Maye and Stafford, have very few interceptions compared to other quarterbacks as well. Stafford has thrown four, and Maye has just six so far.
Micah Parsons has changed the equation in Dallas and Green Bay
The Dallas Cowboys have a strong offense this year with Dak Prescott and an elite receiver group, with George Pickens taking the helm. Pickens has registered multiple games with more than 100 receiving yards and formed a synergy with Prescott on the ground, the two throwing and catching like perfectly hit notes.

Pickens ranks seventh in most receptions in the league and third in most receiving yards behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua. The Cowboys offense has averaged 394.9 offensive yards per game, the most by any team in the league. Across all teams, they are the first to register more than 5,000 offensive yards.
The setback suffered from the loss of a major linebacker like Micah Parsons seemed to have been patched up with Quinnen Williams and other minor squeaks. However, the Cowboys’ defense has fumbled and fumbled hard. His loss is very visible in Dallas while his addition in Wisconsin has translated to their success. Through 13 games, he has recorded 12.5 sacks and became the first-ever NFL player to record more than 12 sacks in each of his first five seasons.
He also holds the record for most quarterback pressures by a Green Bay Packers player. His presence has been quiet, for one, recording one assisted tackle and aiming two hits at the Chicago Bears quarterback during their crucial divisional matchup last week.
