The Dallas Cowboys have three games left this season before they start preparing for the next. In what was a down season, fans and players are already thinking about how the team can get better before starting next season. Amongst those discussions is one about the future of star pass rusher Micah Parsons.

The 25-year-old is about to enter into the final year of his rookie contract. That usually means, discussions should start to come up with a number for the three-time All-Pro that both sides will be happy with. But primary news surrounding the Dallas Cowboys camp has been that of a trade.

Some predict owner Jerry Jones to move Parsons out in return for multiple picks. That way, he can keep the salary cap in balance and help bring in fresh talent for the long run. Jones and the rest of the NFL know Parsons will be looking to command the highest non-QB salary in the league.

The star pass rusher though, has put these talks behind him as he has led the Dallas Cowboys defense to play well. But with just three weeks left in this season, Micah Parsons went on to his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, to address the rumors.

Like I said, y’all know I’m going to be a Cowboy for life. We’re going to figure out a way for me to be a Cowboy for life. I think Jerry and Stephen see it that way, too.

Micah Parsons said

Micah Parsons seems intent on finishing his career in Arlington, Texas. He also believes owner Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones feel the same way. He feels once they tie him down and with the rest of the surrounding pieces; the Cowboys have a great future.

The star pass rusher has galvanized the team and the fans ever since coming back from injury. He suggested that they will give their all to win games, even if Dak Prescott was out. But what excites him most is what this season shows for their future, as he explained on his podcast.

I’m gonna be real excited at the end of this year. I hope the fans are going to be excited because I think it’s going to be a great offseason. I do think we’re gonna attack free agency. I think it’s going to be a great year because I think we got the pieces, man.

Micah Parsons added

He feels if Jerry Jones splurges in the off season on quality players, the Dallas Cowboys can go places. If they could show the fight they have shown without their starting QB on the field, then with a few additions, they could battle for it all.

His excitement might be understandable, considering he wants to stay with the team. But the Cowboys will only have $22 million in cap space next season. Prescott and CeeDee Lamb‘s new salaries kicking in will leave them with very little room to maneuver. Maybe that is why the owners see Parsons as a trade candidate.
