Micah Parsons holds Myles Garrett in the highest regard. Both are masters of their craft, but there can only be one guy at the summit.

Reporters asked Parsons to choose between him and the Cleveland Browns star as the best pass rusher in football. A diplomatic Parsons refrained from picking a clear number one, but he still gave Garrett a ton of respect.

I would say he’s probably one of the better guys. If you argued Myles is better, I wouldn’t hesitate to probably say you’re right.

Parsons left his boyhood club before week one of football to sign with the Green Bay Packers. The NFC North franchise defeated rivals, the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, to take a 2-0 lead.

The 26-year-old accounted for limited game time in his Packers debut but still managed one sack. His snap count increased in week two, and so did his sack count, which now stands at two besides two assisted tackles. Parsons received a 90.2 pass rush and 89.2 overall grade from Pro Football Focus for his first two outings.

Sunday’s game at Cleveland will be Parsons’ first away fixture in the Packers’ green. And, of course, fans are eagerly anticipating his duel with Myles Garrett.

2023 Defensive Player of the Year, Garrett, faced the same question as his Packers counterpart. According to Garrett, both he and Parsons are elite, and the only thing that can separate them is their performance during the season.

I think we’re two of the very best. I think we’re two of the very best in this generation, so we just got to continue to lead the way. There are definitely some other names in that conversation, but I think saying that he’s in it and that I’m in it is not out of the norm.

Despite the Browns being 0-2 after the first couple of games, Garrett has been incredible. He jointly leads the league in sacks (3.5) with Patriots Harold Landry and Saints Carl Granderson.

A lot of athletes end up with the tag ‘generational talent’ each year. However, not many live up to the expectations. Parsons and Garrett are the exceptions.

Garrett, the 2017 first overall pick out of Texas A&M, has 106 career sacks, including seven consecutive seasons with 10+ sacks. Parsons, a former first-rounder himself, has 54 career sacks (including his 1.5 sacks in the current campaign) and is only the second player (Reggie White) to record at least 12 sacks in each of his first four NFL seasons.

Who will come out on top: Micah Parsons or Myles Garrett?

The Packers-Browns fixture comes around once in a blue moon. They have played each other on 20 occasions in the past, with the Packers leading the series 13-7.

Matt LaFleur’s Packers are currently on a four-game win streak, dating back to 2009, and the last Browns victory came in 2005.

In the last fixture (2021), the Packers secured a 24-22 win. Aaron Rodgers (now with the Steelers) threw 3 touchdowns, while Baker Mayfield (now with the Buccaneers) contributed 2 TDs and 4 interceptions. Myles Garrett had one tackle.

Garrett and Parsons have played against each other only once in the NFL. In 2024, Parsons played against the Browns as part of the Cowboys roster, recording 4 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, and one sack, while Garrett logged 2 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and one sack.
