In the NFL, it is normal practice for players to jump around the league. That, however, is not what a young star player such as Micah Parsons was expected to do when he left Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys to join the Green Bay Packers.
He had no intention of leaving. Instead, he wanted to continue wearing the star on his sleeve until retirement. But his contract demands did not allow that to happen, as owner Jerry Jones‘ patience was tested.
The billionaire felt his team was better off without the 26-year-old and engineered the trade that saw the Cowboys get a solid defensive tackle and two first-round picks in return.
On the other hand, Parsons moves to a Packers team with the highest non-QB contract in his hands and with a chip on his shoulder. So far, he has amassed just 1.5 sacks in his first 3 games, which is not bad for a player still adjusting to their schemes.
Next, he is about to return to AT&T Stadium, the place that was his home for the past 4 seasons. He will be tasked with breaking through the young Cowboys’ offensive line and sack former teammate Dak Prescott.
It’s going to be painful. That’s my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is. He always told me if I ever faced him that it’ll be a great matchup, so I’m excited to see what Sunday brings itself.
Micah Parsons told Rob Maaddi
Micah Parsons was the last player to sack @TomBrady. He told me sacking the GOAT was his favorite QB to bring down. How does Micah feel about potentially sacking Dak Prescott when the #Packers face the #Cowboys on @SNFonNBC? pic.twitter.com/dHLfFKOEg6

Micah Parsons knows his very return to his former home arena would be a bittersweet experience. Then, for him to sack one of his closest teammates would be something that would be a difficult pill to swallow.
Micah Parsons will try to keep it professional against Cowboys
The Associated Press’ Rob Maaddi then asked Micah Parsons the most important question as to what his mindset will be when he takes on his former team at AT&T Stadium.

I accepted my fate weeks ago when the trade happened. So for me, it’s just all about playing another game and just doing what I do best, and that’s just be a disruptive football player. I think the media and the fans are trying to blow it up to be such a big thing. But I just look at it as just another game at AT&T.
Micah Parsons replied

The 4-time Pro Bowler believes it will be just another game and believes everyone is blowing the situation more than it needs to be. The Penn State star will face off against his former teammates on Sunday, September 28th.
Micah Parsons loved sacking Tom Brady
Before speaking about sacking Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons first replied to Rob Maaddi’s question asking him if he enjoyed taking down any other QB despite being the last pass rusher to bring down Tom Brady.
Probably is Tom, because every time I see him, it’s a competitive matchup, whether it’s on the field or off the field, whether it’s golf or Fanatics games, he is always trying to be the best. When you can say you are the last person to take down an elite competitor like Tom, it’s a special privilege.
Micah Parsons replied
The Pennsylvania native has sacked quite a few quarterbacks ever since the Cowboys selected him at No. 12 in the 2021 draft. But sacking Tom Brady, just because of his competitive nature, has given him the most joy.
It would have been ironic if the 7-time Super Bowl winner was calling the Dallas Cowboys vs the Green Bay Packers game this Sunday. Instead, it will be NBC’s leading duo of Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico who will be providing commentary.
