Micah Parsons surprisingly is one of only three people who has Jerry Jones’ personal phone number

To prove how valuable Micah Parsons is for the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones gave his personal cell phone number to his star pass rusher. Parsons is only the third person the Cowboys owner/general manager ever gave his number to.
Jones was at Palm Beach in Florida over the weekend, attending the NFL owners’ meeting. He spoke with the media on Parsons’ impending contract extension.
Jones revealed he spoke to Parsons directly because, first of all, he was the one who would write the checks, and second, he didn’t know the name of Parsons’ agent. They chatted for about 5 to 6 hours.
[We] had a lot of discussions [and] most of the issues we’re in agreement on—I’ve discussed it all. But we obviously don’t have an agreement relative to a new contract.
Jerry Jones said
Direct negotiations between the owner and the player aren’t exactly the norm. More commonly, a mediator or an expert negotiator, in this case, Parsons’ agent would be present during the process. Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein raised the question once more and received the same reply from Jones.
No!!! Me and Micah, directly. Like I said, Micah is one of 3 individuals that has… my cellphone number.
Jerry Jones said
Owners don’t go around distributing their personal cell phone numbers to players unless they are extremely important.
Why did Jerry Jones give Micah Parsons his cell phone number?
It’s contract season, and even though Parsons still has one year left in his rookie contract after, the Cowboys picked up his fifth-year option in 2024. That doesn’t mean he can’t ask for an extension right now.

If Parsons seeks any sort of information regarding his potential contact, he can directly call Jones without going through extensive third-party channels.
[Micah] asked for it [cell phone number] about a month ago and said that I wanted to be able to talk to you any time and I said ‘We will talk anytime. Call me. Anytime, any call’.

Cowboys beat writer Clarence Hill Jr. revealed that Parsons and Jones discussed his contract, but the 4x Pro Bowler’s agent, David Mulugheta, wasn’t part of it.
Jones claimed the negotiations don’t require an agent because he’s the one who will write the check and Parsons is the one to take it. However, Parsons must prove that he’s leadership material to earn his dough.
Micah has to be the player that he wants to be paid as. He has to be a tremendous leader for the Dallas Cowboys… He’s got great potential to do more.
Jerry Jones said
Parsons told Clarence Jr. the amount he expects from the Cowboys. It will easily make him the highest-paid NFL defensive player, overtaking Cleveland Browns Myles Garrett.
ESPN’s Peter Schrager explains how Jerry Jones prefers to operate
First Take on ESPN welcomed their newest member, Peter Schrager, who recently left NFL Network. During his debut episode, Schrager described what makes Jones tick during negotiations.
Schrager explained that contract talks are like discussing personal business for Jones. He views it as his own money rather than the league’s or franchise’s money. That’s among the reasons Jones spoke directly to Micah Parsons instead of sitting down with Mulugheta.
This is very close and personal to Jerry Jones. This is going to be the second-biggest contract Jerry Jones ever signs… I believe Jerry Jones wants to deal with Micah and the second you start talking about agents, it’s like, Nah, nah, nah.

Jones didn’t promise any deadline regarding the completion of Parsons’ contract. He will remain in direct touch with the first rounder through his cell phone.
