Instead of joining the Dallas Cowboys in their voluntary offseason training session, edge rusher Micah Parsons was seen trading blows with boxer AJ Graham Jr. A video of the friendly sparring has gone viral over the internet.

Parsons, who is in the last year of his contract, similar to wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, will not attend the start of the OTAs. He is quite happy to continue his strength and conditioning training at home.

In the meantime, the All-Pro linebacker met with the aforementioned boxer. He decided to have a friendly competition to see who had the strongest punch between them. A TikTok video shows the two athletes exchanging punches.

Micah Parsons went first. He dished out a relatively strong punch at Graham’s toned abdomen. Graham returned the favor. However, unlike his counterpart, Parsons wasn’t able to digest the hit. Instead, his reaction suggested that the 24-year-old hurt himself in the process.

X (formerly Twitter) users who watched the video criticized Parsons for indulging himself in activities other than focusing on football.

Micah Parsons skipping the Voluntray workout is not about a contract

Lamb’s missing the start of the training camp stems from his contract situation. Dallas Morning NewsCalvin Watkins reported that Lamb’s agent and the Cowboys front office haven’t had any “substantial talks.” He is reportedly unwilling to play under his current $17.99 million option for the 2024 season.

However, unlike the Cowboys’ single-season reception leader, Parsons’ motives are different for not attending voluntary workouts.

(Parsons) is focused on a personalized training program outside of the facility while determined to prepare himself for the 2024 season in the manner he considers optimal.
Watkins’ colleague Michael Gehlken reported

The Penn State graduate did the same thing in 2023, working out at the Kollective with Mo Wells in Austin. He did eventually show up for training, just in time.
