Micah Parsons tried his best to rub his tears off while talking about DeMarvion Overshown. The second-year linebacker suffered a bad knee injury while playing the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday.

With just over 12 minutes to go until the final whistle, the Cowboys led the Bengals by just three points. After Joe Burrow snapped the ball on second and one inside the Dallas half, the Cowboys’ edge rushers blitzed hard but met stiff resistance from the Bengals offensive line.

Parsons got through, but Overshown was brought down by Bengals guard Alex Cappa. While he was going down, offensive lineman Ted Karras tumbled onto the right knee of the Texas graduate. When the commotion subsided, Overshown was sitting awkwardly on the turf, unable to move and in severe pain.

After five minutes of examination by the Cowboys’ medical team, two staff members shouldered Overshown as he limped off into the tunnel.

Micah Parsons seemed extremely affected by the outcome. During the post-match interview, cameras caught him rubbing his eyes, trying his best to hide the tears. The All-Pro pass rusher spoke with a broken voice while talking about Overshown.

I cried. That’s like my little bro. He don’t deserve that. He really don’t. To understand what he’s gonna have to go through and to be there for him, physically, mentally. It’s just so challenging because he’s so talented. The year he was having. I really don’t think that’s fair, either.

The Cowboys lost the game 20-27 to the Bengals, but losing Overshown was a much bigger blow to the side laden with injuries.

DeMarvion Overshown’s struggles with injury at Cowboys

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Overshown in Dallas. During his rookie year, he suffered an ACL injury during the second preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. The injury kept him out for an entire year and he only joined the active roster this year.

Parsons helped him get back to full fitness, and he became a rising star when the former Penn State man was on the sidelines midway through the current season.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy did not reveal much about the status of Overshown’s injury, but at first glance, it seemed bad.

It’s of serious nature. … It didn’t look good.

Mike McCarthy said as per Jon Machota of The Athletic

Overshown later shared his thoughts on X.

Wouldn’t want this for anyone else! One of God’s Toughest Soldiers. Keep me in your prayer.
