Dallas sports fans are still reeling from the aftereffects of the Luka Doncic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, they have another headache on their hands after Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons handed in a trade request.
In Luka Doncic‘s situation, it was more a matter of circumstance than a request, as the Slovenian was deeply rooted in the Dallas community and had no intention of moving anywhere else until he retired.
He purchased a new house and had been adding to his growing collection of exotic cars, all bearing Texas number plates. The 26-year-old was forced to leave everything behind as he started a new life on the West Coast.
Parsons, on the other hand, was supposed to get a contract extension this offseason. He has the accomplishments to demand to become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. It seems Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not on the same page.
The two sides have been entangled in a war of words, with the pass rusher reiterating that he has done enough to get his contract. On top of that, he believes the franchise is not accepting the fact that he is currently injured and unable to train.
Jones, on the other hand, has stated that he is not focused on giving his most important defensive player a big raise. After all this, the defensive end lost patience and handed in an official trade request.

This could force the billionaire owner to resolve the matter before it starts to impact the rest of the team. At the same time, it could also open the possibility of Micah Parsons playing elsewhere next season.
Fans in disbelief at the thought of Micah Parsons following Luka Doncic out of Dallas
For football fans, it is already unthinkable that Micah Parsons, who has established himself as the best player on the Dallas Cowboys roster, to even think of leaving the franchise. If it were to happen, this would be the second time in 7 months when they would witness another sports superstar leave the state.
The arrivals of Cooper Flagg and Paige Bueckers were supposed to help heal the wounds that were inflicted after the Mavericks traded away Luka Doncic. If Parsons were to leave, the question is who would take his place at the Cowboys.
Sports aficionados felt sorry for Dallas fans, who are not having the best of times. They are already in sports purgatory as the Cowboys have not delivered a Super Bowl in more than three decades. Now, if they lose another star player, it would be difficult to digest. Check out some of those reactions below:

This why you pay the man early, when someone will take less early to stay in a place he wanted to be forever, you do it… the price only goes up now!

This trade request might become a blessing in disguise. It could force Jerry Jones’ hand, and the Penn State alum might stick around for another 4 years at least. Dallas fans might eventually end up witnessing championship-winning situations soon.
Luka Doncic rumored to be close to signing contract extension
Luka Doncic has settled into his new life in Los Angeles. He has expressed a desire to stay, but has not made it official yet. The Lakers want the 26-year-old to sign a contract extension this week.

He is eligible to sign a 4-year, $229 million extension. That would give him a significant raise, with a new yearly average of $57.25 million. It is less than what he could have made had he not left Dallas, but there is a way he can reach those heady numbers.
If he opts for a 3-year, $165 million contract, he would earn slightly less at $55 million a year. But that can set him up to sign a 5-year, $417 million extension in 2028. Then he would be earning a staggering $83.4 million a year into his 30s.
