‘So there’s going to be a ton of pressure on Dustin to win this fight’ – Michael Chandler warns Dustin Poirier ahead of possible trilogy bout with Conor McGregor

Michael Chandler is all the rage right now in the lightweight division. The UFC newcomer made a stellar debut against Dan Hooker at UFC 257, as he knocked the Kiwi out in the very first round, and got into the top 5 of the lightweight rankings in no time. He is currently just one step away from his title, as he is scheduled to take on Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight belt on the 15th of May, at UFC 262.

Speaking about this in an interview with MMA fighting, Iron Mike spoke about Dustin Poirier who passed up on the title shot in order to take on Conor McGregor in a trilogy bout. He further added that, if Dustin loses it, it will be huge trouble working his way back into the title frame.

He continued, “So there’s going to be a ton of pressure on Dustin to win this fight or else he passed up on a title shot that he might not get for a while. Taking another fight or two to get back to the title and it could be me and Conor fighting next, if Conor wins.” [via MMA Fighting]

Only final negotiations, date and venue haven’t been decided for the trilogy bout between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. The two are almost certain to have their bout this year. The winner will surely challenging the winner of the Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira bout.
