So, the big dream is to be a UFC fighter then? Lightweight mainstay and former Bellator champ Michael Chandler still found out the hard way what it means. After his rematch with Charles Oliveira atop the UFC 309 Pay-per-view (PPV) co-headliner, Chandler came home battered. That has now turned into some wild post-fight effects on the body.

“Iron” Michael Chandler has a tough post-fight recovery after his five-round bout with Charles Oliveira. The gladiatorial fighter went belly-flop and entertained with a late Round 5 scare over ‘Do Bronx’. But he told co-hosts Will Compton & Taylor Lewan for “Barstool Sports Presents Bussin’ With The Boys” that he was peeing blood after UFC 309. Now, the injuries take a more physical form.

Look at this knee. …The swelling goes all the way down….

Chandler recently uploaded reels on social media with a sarcastic take on the iconic line — “So, you want to be a UFC fighter?“. The Team Kill Cliff FC prizefighter showed off a bruised left leg. When he pressed upon his injuries, the leg showed off some squiggly yet massive swelling! The indents that did not go down were in no way within normal mundane parameters.

Fresh off his loss, during his appearance on Bussin’ With The Boys, Chandler discussed his alleged ‘illegal’ pounding of Charles Oliveira in the later rounds. However, he also said that his leg was quite hurt in the opening frame itself. A part of his post-fight injury is the pitting edema swelling on his leg. However, the fighter said he will get treatment and the future ‘is bright’ for 2025.

Michael Chandler gives further health updates

According to Osmosis, edema results from excess fluid accumulation and may resolve spontaneously in mild cases. Elevating the affected limb helps in recovery. Prone to systemic workouts and recovery, Michael Chandler said he was already going through those.

Despite his hard-fought loss at UFC 309 (read top highlights) Chandler is ready to get back in the game. By game, he means – Conor McGregor. Although he has called out other 155-pound options, one does not just give up on such a prize fight in the UFC.

He is projecting a return for the next International Fight Week and HOF inaugurations. In another video posted on Instagram, Chandler shared a health update, saying he’s actively recovering from his rematch.

We’re hitting the red light bed, the HyperMax, the cold plunge, the contrast therapy, the sauna, the PEMF mat, we’re hitting the hyperbaric chamber, we are hitting everything because the road to recovery started on Monday…The future still looks bright. 2025 is going to be big. You guys know there’s some big fights out there. There is a fight that fell through that needs to come to fruition to finish The Ultimate Fighter 31.
