Michael Chandler vs Justin Gaethje reportedly in the works!

Michael Chandler made an impressive start to his UFC career at UFC 257, when he knocked out Dan Hooker in the very first round. The former Bellator star shot right into the spotlight when he was named the backup fighter for the high-voltage clash between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, as soon as he joined the UFC. Now, just a few months later, Chandler is ranked number 4 in the UFC lightweight rankings.
Speaking about the top-ranked lightweights in the recent episode of DC & Helwani MMA Show, Ariel Helwani revealed that Michael Chandler vs Justin Gaethje is reportedly in the works. Although there are no other details surrounding the fight available yet, fight fans can be pretty sure to expect the fight, sometime this year.
‘I’m thinking how about Gaethje vs Chandler‘
“Gaethje – Chandler in the works”, Ariel Helwani told Daniel Cormier in their MMA show, as Cormier had tweeted earlier this week as to how he wanted the lightweight division to take shape.
“In my house relaxing and looking at rankings. I’m thinking how about Gaethje vs Chandler, then we go Islam vs RDA and lastly give my boy Beneil the big fight and match him up with Tony Ferguson. What do y’all think? Exciting right?“, Cormier had tweeted.
Justin Gaethje hasn’t fought since his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 254. The number 2 ranked lightweight contender will be wary of the explosive power Michael Chandler brings to the table. A win here for either one of them will surely put them next in line for a title shot. What are your thoughts on this matchup?
