Michael Cole announces Sami Zayn's health status (via WWE)
Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens went to war on Saturday in their home country of Canada. The two superstars participated in an unsanctioned match at Elimination Chamber and put each other through hell. Following this bout, Michael Cole had some news to break.
On the latest episode of Raw, Michael Cole announced that Zayn had been suffering from neck injuries, nerve issues, and spinal issues. Thus, he will be out of action indefinitely. There is no rumored date for his return. It is also unclear if he will even be able to make it to WrestleMania.
Zayn was injured even before heading into the Elimination Chamber. He had been the victim of a devastating piledriver by Kevin Owens and hurt his neck in the process. He had to do a lot of convincing just to get his bout in Canada. That is also why Adam Pearce declared this match as unsanctioned.

These two superstars put on a brutal fight in Toronto. However, even after winning the match, Owens was not satisfied and continued attacking his opponent. He started to remove the padding from the ground and was going to piledriver Zayn onto the floor. However, Randy Orton made his return to WWE and delivered a vicious RKO to the Prizefighter.
Will Sami Zayn face Karrion Kross at WrestleMania?
After the events of Elimination Chamber, WWE has made it pretty clear that Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens seems to be one of the marquee matches planned for WrestleMania. However, things are still hanging in the balance for Sami Zayn. Seeing that he may not be facing his best friend at the Showcase of the Immortals, Karrion Kross looks to be the most likely option as of now.
Kross has been trying to unleash Zayn’s dark side for a few weeks now, as he has already successfully done to many others. Although they’ve not interacted much on TV, the White Rabbit has taken several jabs at the former Intercontinental Champion on social media. He even dressed up as the Canadian to make a mocking video.
WWE has invested a lot into making Karrion Kross a huge star, and he is finally gaining some momentum. A WrestleMania program against the 40-year-old could be a great way to elevate him to the next level. Alternatively, if the injuries are real or they simply have no plans for him, Zayn may miss WrestleMania entirely and might make his return later during the summer.
