Under WWE’s previous management, the company used to be very hesitant when it came to mentioning former superstars on their programming. While the new regime is lax about such things, it is still very surprising to see Michael Cole, the voice of WWE, talk about a star as controversial as Mercedes Mone.

The latest episode of SmackDown featured Candice LeRae taking on Naomi in a singles match. Regardless, there was still plenty of interference from her tag team partner, Indi Hartwell. The Australian threw the former Women’s Champion into the ring post and then back into the ring. This led to Bayley making her entrance and evening the odds for her friend.

Bayley had also been pinned by LeRae in a tag team match last week. Alongside helping her friend, the 35-year-old was looking to get some revenge. As she started to attack the former NXT Women’s Tag Champions, Cole mentioned that The Role Model was extremely familiar with the venue of the show.

Bayley had won her first singles championship in WWE, the NXT Women’s Championship, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn by beating Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover. This was especially surprising because Mone has been largely critical of WWE in interviews and seems to be fully committed to AEW at the moment.

Mercedes Mone reveals her dream opponent for a wrestling match

Mercedes Mone has had a very complete career in professional wrestling. She has put on incredible matches all over the world and won major gold in several different promotions. However, one item has still not been struck off her bucket list. In the latest edition of Mone Mag, she expressed her desire to have a match against Trish Stratus.

The Hall of Famer was busy in a feud with Charlotte Flair when she made her return to WWE in 2019. By the time Stratus came back to the promotion in 2023, Mercedes Mone had already walked out of the company. If she had stuck around, perhaps she could’ve gotten a match against the 48-year-old.

Trish Stratus- She was just THE GIRL back in the day. And even now, she can just go. I watched her on TV as a fan in her prime and still wish I could lock up with her.

Mone said that she had watched Trish Stratus on her TV screen while growing up as a professional wrestling fan. Stratus was a legend in women’s wrestling and could still go even to this day. Mone would love to have step into the ring with her if given the chance.
