The last time the Dallas Cowboys beat the Denver Broncos, Michael Irvin was helping his teammates run towards their third Super Bowl. Since then, it seems the lack of wins against the Colorado-based team has corresponded with a lack of Vince Lombardi trophies for America’s team.

The 59-year-old was excited about this year’s edition of his team. The great wide receiver saw owner Jerry Jones assemble a stellar offensive unit. Dak Prescott and his teammates responded by putting up league-leading points per game until Week 7.

In Week 8, football fans knew they would have a trying time against the standout Denver Broncos defense. But little did Michael Irvin and Cowboys fans think that the end result was going to be anything like this.

This CAN NOT be an NFL defense that’s wearing the Dallas Cowboys helmets !!!!!!

Using caps to denote the word ‘cannot’ was the Hall of Famer’s way of expressing his frustrations. After all, he saw the Cowboys’ defense allow their opponents to score 44 points on them.

His angry tweet seems justified, as the Broncos QB connected with his receivers four times, despite throwing for just 247 yards. On top of that, the Cowboys also allowed two rushing touchdowns from the home team’s backup running back.

Many have raised concerns about the franchise’s defense ever since Micah Parsons was traded away. Now, it seems the defense is the sole area of concern, as their horrible form could end up costing the Cowboys.

Broncos rookies destroy Cowboys defense

Michael Irvin and Dallas Cowboys fans just witnessed their team decimate the Washington Commanders a week before by a score of 44-22. Helmed by Dan Quinn, that was no ordinary defense.

That is why those wearing a star on their merchandise could not fathom how the tables were turned, that too, mostly by a bunch of rookies. Running back RJ Harvey scored twice with his feet and once with his hands.

Third round pick Pat Bryant caught one of Bo Nix‘s 4 TDs. Then, cornerback Jahdae Barron intercepted Dak Prescott. Thankfully, for the highest-paid player in the league, that turnover did not result in a Broncos’ score.

Jerry Jones had boasted that when he let go of Micah Parsons, he had a vision in mind for his defense. After 8 games, that vision seems to be in tatters, as many rookies on the opposition teams are now showing the league that the Cowboys’ defensive unit is easy to run over.

Jerry Jones believes embarrassing loss to Broncos won’t force them to trade for players

Jerry Jones also defended his defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus. The billionaire claimed the latter’s experience will eventually lead them to the promised land.

He was not willing to entertain a change at DC and hoped fine adjustments would help the unit find its feet. After Sunday night’s embarrassment at the Empower Field at Mile High, reporters asked the 83-year-old if he was looking into the trade market.

The loss is discouraging. As far as my temperament, if I saw a proposition for us to help this team, no matter what the score was today, then I would look at the merits of helping this team… Today would not affect a decision for trading for a player.

Jerry Jones said, as captured by Jon Machota

The owner-cum-GMs’ response seems to echo his head coach, that latest loss was just a bad day at the office. This means Michael Irvin and Cowboys fans might have to endure a few more such defeats unless Eberflus makes some changes in his schemes.
