In Short
  • Michael Jordan's 23XI Racing driver, Tyler Reddick, made history by winning the first three races of the NASCAR season.
  • Jordan acknowledged the team's efforts and credited co-owner Denny Hamlin for the success.
  • A Michael Jordan trading card sold for $2.1 million, highlighting his continued influence in sports memorabilia.

It seems Michael Jordan has a thing for winning. His accomplishments in basketball are well-documented, and now his 23XI Racing driver, Tyler Reddick, is helping achieve the same in another sport.

The last time ‘His Airness’ experienced winning was when he led his Chicago Bulls to a second three-peat in the 1998 NBA Finals. Since then, he has tried to channel that as a team owner with the Charlotte Hornets. But repeated failures, criticism of which also led him to break his close friendship with Charles Barkley, led Jordan to sell the Hornets at a then-NBA record $3 billion.

In the meantime, he tried to channel his competitiveness by turning to his other passions: golf and gambling. But none of them was close to winning an actual professional sport.

He also hoped that his 23XI Racing would give him continuous success, something that even the top organizations have found difficult to sustain. But it seems the five-time NBA league MVP’s time has finally come.

After Tyler Reddick won the 2026 Daytona 500, Michael Jordan found himself in some controversy. Thankfully, video evidence proved he was not in the wrong, and his longtime supporter, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, came out to slam those creating false narratives.

But true to the recently turned 63-year-old’s nature, he moved on to the next race at Atlanta. After winning that race, the North Carolina native admitted Reddick was under pressure.

However, the 30-year-old stuck to his strategy and roared past the checkered flag to win at the Circuit of The Americas. With that, Reddick becomes the first driver to win the first three races of a season, giving Jordan another illustrious three-peat, albeit in a different sport.

Michael Jordan credits Tyler Reddick and his team

When Michael Jordan last won two three-peats of NBA championships, there was no doubt that he deserved praise for leading the Chicago Bulls to every one of them.

He was the supreme superstar who willed his teammates to win. But now, after nearly three decades, even though NASCAR will market this as another one of his three-peats, he gave credit where it was due.

He had the chance to win three in a row, that’s the hardest one to win, you know… The guys put together a great car… Tyler did a good job… I’m proud of the team that we put together… I just put up the money. I’m just a competitor.

Michael Jordan said

The six-time NBA champion also reiterated how this was all Denny Hamlin‘s brainchild coming together. If not for his co-owner’s vision in putting this team together and signing Tyler Reddick, they would not have had this success.

Now, Reddick and fellow 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace are one and two in the driver’s standings, and it seems Michael Jordan does not want this to stop.

To finish off that interview, FOX Sports’ Jamie Little asked him if he was headed to Phoenix to support Reddick and his team try to do the unthinkable and win four races in a row, to which Jordan agreed.

Michael Jordan keeps winning off the basketball court

With Michael Jordan winning at racetracks, it has become clear that his basketball past is not stopping him from achieving glory in other disciplines.

It so happens that his win at COTA was not the only good news that would be attached to his name. Someone at the Heritage Auction bid $2.1 million for a 1997 Ultra Michael Jordan Masterpiece 1/1 PSA 8 card.

That trading card was the first-ever one-of-one Jordan card and was the origin point of the modern one-of-one era. The rarity of the card made this PSA 8 look valuable enough for its new owner to part with $2.1 million.

That amount might seem like a small figure for any card associated with the 10-time scoring champion, as his Upper Deck Exquisite Collection trading card featuring the late great Kobe Bryant sold for $12.9 million last year.

But even then, it is a victory for the Bulls great, as no other professional athlete’s memorabilia commands this level of attention, leaving collectors to break records doling out cash.
