As the 2025-26 season is about to start, fans are waiting to see Michael Jordan debut in his role as a ‘special contributor’ for NBC, which is restarting its NBA coverage from this campaign.
When the news first broke, fans could not believe that one of the greatest ever players was going to take on the job of an analyst. They believe he is going to fix a lot of the wrongs that happen in the way the NBA is covered currently.
Stephen A. Smith mentioned that NBC should not allow the 6-time champion to talk while smoking his cigar, else they might have to be careful about what he reveals.
By now, the anticipation has been growing as opening night comes closer, leaving everyone to wonder what Jordan will talk about. NBC’s NFL commentator Cris Collinsworth was speaking with Kay Adams, and she jumped at the chance to ask him if he knew anything about it.
I’m gonna get shot for some of this. I’m sure it’s all a big surprise, but it will be a deep dive into the brain of Michael Jordan… The things that you would really want to know from Michael Jordan, if you got a chance to sit down and just have a conversation with Michael Jordan.
Cris Collinsworth revealed
The color commentator added that His Airness would not be talking about topics such as who is the best player or anything like that. Rather, it will be as if someone is having a conversation about basketball.

Cris Collinsworth reveals Michael Jordan’s way of ‘busting chops’
There are enough clips online showing how great professional athletes greet Michael Jordan. The respect is immense, and they seem as if they are recognizing one of the greatest to ever walk this earth.
That could lead to some tension when breaking the ice with him. Cris Collinsworth revealed how the 5-time league MVP broke the ice between them.
He bust chops better than anybody that I have ever known. The first time I warped up to him and said hello, he went, bam, bam, bam, just like that. 3 shots right across, and was laughing.
Cris Collinsworth said
Kay Adams asked what Jordan said during that conversation, but the former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver declined to reveal. It seems it was something along the lines of what Stephen A. Smith mentioned, about when he is smoking his cigar.
