Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony reveal Michael Jordan's competitive side of trash talking

Michael Jordan is known to be without doubt one of the most competitive players to have ever graced the NBA. That competitive streak also carries over whenever the former Chicago Bulls superstar trash-talks with opponents in any form of sport. Former superstars Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony were witnesses to one such round of trash talk at the NBA Top 75 ceremony.

Wade was a guest on Anthony’s podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn where they were discussing all things basketball. When they discussed their experience in the NBA Top 75 ceremony, both former superstars said.

The moment was when MJ came in. Let me tell you something, when he walked through, everything changed. When MJ came in, it was silence. He sizes everyone from the tunnel. That clip with him and Magic that went viral, that was right away. I was just sitting there and I'm like 'I'm listening to Jordan and Magic talk sh*t.' 'Put your sneaks on let's go right now. I'll tear your a** up right now.' Oh they serious!
Dwyane Wade said

Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony were left stunned by Jordan’s trash talk. Even after leaving the game 2 decades ago, that fire was burning through. They mentioned that even though there was mutual respect between all players, everyone was trying to talk trash to each other. It showed that their competitive fire did not diminish. But Michael Jordan was at a completely different level.

He knew coming into the room that he was the best of the best. So, he took that into account while talking trash with everyone. Showing that even nearing 60, he wanted to show everybody that he was still the greatest ever. No wonder Wade who modeled his game after Jordan was in awe.

Dwyane Wade could have been like Michael Jordan

In the same episode, Dwyane Wade was talking about how his career trajectory went. More importantly, what his game comprised of.

They don't understand my game. I’m not the greatest shooter of all time, but I was great at so many different things. No one knows how to really break down my game. Before injuries, I’m like 'MJ I’m coming for you'.
Dwyane Wade added

Wade struggled with knee issues in the latter part of his career. Else he could have been akin to Michael Jordan in terms of impact on the game.

After all, no one could truly say why Dwyane Wade is a Hall of Famer. He never had the greatest scoring moments nor was he in the race for Defensive Player of the Year. But he would get the game going. Winning was all that mattered for the 3-time champion.

Those knee issues reduced him to a role player in the latter years of his career. Had his knees stayed healthy, he could have won a few more championships with the Miami Heat and possibly competed with Jordan.
