Michael Jordan isn’t ‘wired’ to do what LeBron James did for son Bronny

LeBron James helping son Bronny James into the Los Angeles Lakers may not be the route Michael Jordan would have taken for his sons.

Michael Jordan and Los Angeles Lakers father and son duo LeBron James and Bronny James

Bronny James has played in three regular games in his rookie NBA season. In all three games, he was beside his father LeBron James as they became the first ever basketball father and son duo to play in the same games and on the same team. It shows the power the Los Angeles Lakers superstar holds. But some analysts are questioning if Michael Jordan would have done the same.

Ever since Bronny James was drafted, many called him out for being the benefactor of nepotism. Those talks came about after his disappointing sole college season with USC. Had he played to his four-star high school assessments, maybe the criticism would not be this loud.

On the other hand, some feel the 20-year-old should be given a pass as he could not develop in college. But then, he should have stayed back in college to learn the fundamentals. There are also some, like American sportscaster Michelle Beadle, who wonder what Michael Jordan would do if he was in a similar situation.

I don’t think MJ is wired that way.

With that short quote what the analyst tried to say is that Michael Jordan would not do what LeBron James did, as he would not hand either of his sons a chance to play alongside him on the same team if they were eligible.

Co-panelist Chandler Parsons tried to suggest that Jordan could have done the same. But Michelle Beadle and Lou Williams argued that knowing the mannerism of the legend, he would not have given an easy entry to the league to his sons. He would prefer if their game prompted teams to draft them.

Bronny James to switch between G-League and NBA

Bronny James has struggled through the Summer League, and in preseason games. Now sitting at a career record of 1-2 with stat lines of 1 point, .3 rebounds and .5 assists to his name, the concerns are growing louder about his lack of development.

It was expected that the Los Angeles Lakers will move him to the G-League at some point. After being a part of the gameday roster for four NBA games, the rookie will now look to develop his game with the South Bay Lakers. ESPN’s Shams Charania gave an update earlier.

The Lakers today assigned Bronny James to their NBA G League affiliate, South Bay, where he’s expected to debut vs. Salt Lake City on Saturday, sources said. James will be on Lakers roster vs. 76ers Friday, then rejoin South Bay. For now, sources said, the G League plan is for Bronny James to play in only South Bay home games – as he shuttles between both leagues and team manages his time on respective rosters.

This arrangement means LeBron James‘ son will be available for both rosters. That also means he will have two sets of coaches trying to help him develop. How it helps him in the long run is yet to be determined. But this arrangement could give him the necessary pro tips he needs. He could then apply it in games with the South Bay Lakers.
