In the 90’s, the Chicago Bulls was the most dominant team in the NBA. With six championships in just eight years, Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls set the standard for success in the NBA. Throughout the years the Bulls’ management planted the seeds of a championship-winning team. Recently one of Jordan’s biggest rivals Isiah Thomas made some bold claims through his ‘X’ account.
Isiah Thomas recently posted some bold tweets on ‘X.’ During a fan interaction, Thomas stated that the Chicago Bulls wouldn’t have won a single championship without the help of Jerry Krause. He singled out their former general manager, as the driving force behind their championship wins. Krause was one of the best talent scouts in NBA history and has a great history of scouting gems from small colleges. After the famous ‘Last Dance’ documentary, Krause received a lot of hate for how his character was portrayed. Thomas made his comments in order to restore Krause’s public image.
This is a bold statement coming: The Chicago Bulls never win a Championship without Jerry Krause. Let it be known.Isiah Thomas wrote on X
Thomas even tweeted about Scottie Pippen and Toni Kukoc, stating that both players were skilled enough to win at least two championships in the league. Zeke also praised Krause in another tweet for drafting Kukoc, a 6’11 point guard who could shoot threes well before the three-point revolution. Both Pippen and Kukoc played crucial roles in the team. While Kukoc joined the Bulls for the second three-peat, Pippen was by Jordan’s side for all six championships. Their contributions were instrumental to the team’s success.
I disagree Pipin and Kokoc were good enough at that time to win one maybe 2 definitely not 6.Isiah Thomas added
Krause certainly planted the seeds by drafting Ron Harper and Steve Kerr who later went on to become crucial pieces for the Bulls’ success. Jordan was certainly the best player on the team. But Krause provided Jordan with one of the best-supporting cast in the league.
The beef between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas still goes on
In the 90s, Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas both stood out as some of the biggest stars in the league. Jordan, leading the Bulls, and Thomas, with the Pistons, engaged in one of the most intense rivalries of Jordan’s early career. Thomas and his infamous Bad Boy Pistons were known for their rough and mean playing style. The whole league used to hate the Pistons for their playing style.
In the early stages of Jordan’s career, he struggled against the Pistons due to a lack of strong supporting players. However, once Michael Jordan acquired a better supporting cast including Scottie Pippen, the Bulls were able to defeat the Pistons and get their revenge. This victory led to one of the most memorable moments of the 90s. After being defeated, the Pistons left the arena without shaking hands with their rivals. This made Jordan furious and started to hate Thomas since then.
During the formation of the 1992 Redeem Team, Thomas was one of the biggest point guards in the league but was not selected to represent USA as the part of the Redeem Team. Many still speculate it was Jordan who was the reason for Thomas not being selected. It’s been years since both stars have retired, but they fire verbal jabs occasionally.
