Prior to the highly anticipated 2024 Olympics showdown between Team USA and France, both LeBron James and basketball legend Michael Jordan held two Olympic gold medals each. However, in the lead-up to the game, some fans expressed concerns that Jordan might slip down the medal rankings if Team USA won, as James would add another gold to his collection.
And that is exactly what American TV personality Nick Wright pointed out. In a recent episode of the First Things First podcast, he claimed that Jordan would lose more than anyone else if the United States secured another gold medal.
However, the person with the most to lose assuming Team USA wins, is 1, Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Because well, a lot of people are because of LeBron's excellence in this Olympics, looking up that '92 Dream Team. And are like, 'Hey! Who is the only guy who didn't play well?... And by the way, how old is he and how old is LeBron?'Nick Wright said
According to Wright, people will begin to question the quality of players on the 1992 Olympic team, which included Michael Jordan, and compare it to the 2024 team led by LeBron James. He suggests that this comparison could negatively impact Jordan’s reputation, especially if basketball fans start to rate LeBron James higher due to his outstanding performance at the current Paris Olympics.
Nonetheless, after their game against France, the USA men’s basketball team, led by LeBron James, emerged victorious with a final score of 98-87. This win gives the Los Angeles Lakers star his third Olympic gold medal. Additionally, it marks the fifth consecutive time Team USA has won the gold medal in Olympic basketball.
College-level Michael Jordan led Team USA to 1984 Olympics gold
During his playing days, Jordan was widely regarded as the best basketball player in the world. Not only did he win fans over with his winning mentality and skills on the court, but his aura was also unmatched.
MJ is celebrated for leading Team USA to victory at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where they won gold while he was still a college basketball player. Jordan and his teammates dominated the competition, securing wide-margin victories against all the teams they faced.
Even after his retirement from the game in 2003, the 61-year-old is still a household name in the hearts of fans. His skills are legendary, and he is widely known as one of the greatest ever to play basketball.
