Michael Jordan once warned his kids about unattainable expectations: “I wouldn’t want to be you guys”

After Michael Jordan became the greatest basketball player to walk the earth, the NBA and their fans looked towards the next superstar who could come close or beat His Airness. But so far, he remains the GOAT as arguably the best player ever.

The only player to come close to challenging that status is LeBron James. But ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith clarified that instead of pitting the two, they should get their own GOAT segments, so that both can be celebrated.

James though, has gone on to do something that Jordan could not. His son, Bronny James became an NBA player creating history alongside his father. Jordan’s two sons Jeffrey and Marcus were also basketball players, but they were not as good as the USC alum to get into the NBA.

But Bronny James is always scrutinized for one reason, fans and media want to see how he is relative to his father. Even if it is early, those comparisons start ever since children grow old enough. Michael Jordan‘s sons were also scrutinized as the legend said it himself at his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech.

This was back in 2009, which means Jeffrey Jordan and Marcus Jordan were still aspiring basketball players. Their father knew that the media would scrutinize every step they take. That is why he said that he would not want to be in the place of his own children.

Michael Jordan’s kids have vastly different lives

Neither Jeffrey Jordan nor his younger brother Marcus Jordan ended up playing professional basketball. They last played at the University of Central Florida and completed their graduation. Since then, the older Jordan has tried his hand at working at Nike and also in business.

Marcus Jordan’s business affairs center around his high-end sneaker store, ‘The Trophy Room’. But other than that, he became a media darling when his relationship with his father’s former teammate’s ex-wife became public.

Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen‘s short-stint affair had a severe impact on Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen‘s relationship. They still do not talk, and Pippen became bitter as the relationship continued to blow up in the media.

Both brothers have also seen their faces plastered over the media due to their run ins with law enforcement. Jeffrey Jordan has had just one incident. But his younger brother has had quite a few, the latest of which was a few weeks ago.

The only Jordan family member not to face such media scrutiny has been daughter Jasmine Jordan. She prefers to stay out of the spotlight and only engages in social media activities that pertain to just her immediate family and friends.
