“You know how in-shape you got be?” Michael Jordan’s insane athleticism towards career end has ex-NBA star in disbelief
Michael Jordan had an explosive moment during his stint with the Washington Wizards as revealed by former NBA player, Gilbert Arenas.
Michael Jordan had a short stint with the Washington Wizards
Michael Jordan shocked the basketball world when he shifted the goalpost twice on his retirement from the Chicago Bulls in 1998. Only for him to show his competitive spirit and come back for one last dance with the Washington Wizards.
In a recent episode of his podcast, “Gil’s Arena,’ former NBA star and controversial host Gilbert Arenas shared an intriguing story that shed light on His Airness’ motivation during that remarkable season. According to Arenas, Michael Jordan had been disappointed with himself when he scored just six points in a prior game.
Jordan had apparently earned GOAT status when he returned to the NBA with the Washington Wizards. Although his third stint was different, he wanted to be the main guy but he wasn’t the dominant force he had been with the Bulls.
“This man [Michael Jordan] got so mad. He took 10 shots then came back and shot 38 times.”

However, he still managed to produce some memorable performances. Among these was an explosive 51-point game against the Charlotte Hornets, which is still widely remembered. Jordan’s scoring feats were especially impressive considering his age and the three-year break he had taken before re-entering the league.
Little wonder it was claimed that he was more dangerous with the Wizards than he was with the Bulls. He finally said bye to the beautiful game in 2003 and never looked back.
Michael Jordan and LeBron James’ greatness debate weighed in by Shawn Marion
One way or another, the debate about who’s the greatest basketball player of all time will never stop, especially with LeBron James who has gained momentum even as he excels with the Los Angeles Lakers in his late 30s. Some have argued that James is outperforming Michael Jordan’s level of play during his stint with the Washington Wizards.
However, retired NBA All-Star Shawn Marion strongly disagreed with this comparison. Marion on the Scoop B Selects Show, asserted that the four-time NBA champ has an advantage due to the talented players surrounding him on the Lakers, something that MJ lacked during his time with the Wizards.
King James in his 22nd season in the NBA has MVP frontrunner, Anthony Davis, and given the Brow’s talent, it has given him a comparative advantage, something His Airness lacked during his time. Regardless, the NBA GOAT debate isn’t ending anytime soon.
