Michael Jordan’s snack-stealing habit comes to light in hilarious Wayans family admission
The Wayans family joined People for an interview where they recalled memories from the summer Michael Jordan became their neighbour.
Michael Jordan, Damon Wayans Jr.
Back in the 90s, all anyone wanted to do was meet Michael Jordan. Famously, when Jordan moved to Los Angeles to make the iconic Space Jam movie, he became neighbours with the Wayans Family. In a recent interview with People, the Wayans – Damon Wayans Sr. and Damon Wayan Jr., the two spoke about their experience living next to MJ.
As the Wayans recalled, Michael Jordan used to frequent their house quite often. During his visits, he would primarily meet up with Damon Sr., as Damon Jr. was still a child. But Damon Jr. particularly recalled how Jordan used to be a fan of the snacks that he kept at their house, demolishing them every time he would come.
The Wayans recalled how they used to fanboy over Jordan before they met him until they would soon grow into close friends. MJ would frequent their house often during that summer, having just moved into LA, causing many of the Wayans’ friends and family to want to come over and meet the legendary Mike.
The Wayans, however, were very particular about maintaining the privacy of the greatest basketball player in the world, although Damon Jr. did hint that Michael Jordan might often have overstayed his welcome at their home. As he recalled, Jordan notoriously used to finish all the snacks in their house every time he would come over, much to the chagrin of Damon Jr.
Exploring Michael Jordan’s radical fast-food diet in the 90’s
Normally, every great athlete is backed by an equally sound and professional diet and lifestyle. Michael Jordan definitely had the lifestyle on and off the court down to a T, but it was the diet sector where he had some glaring issues. Although MJ would dominate on the court with one of the most athletically superior playstyles in NBA History, his diet would primarily consist of fast food, especially McDonalds.
This story was recalled by Jordan’s former teammate, Charles Oakley, who was very close to Jordan, acting as his protector on the court in their three seasons together. Joining the All The Smoke podcast last year, Oakley recalled many stories, including how Jordan’s diet primarily consisted of him eating McDonald’s for breakfast nearly every day and a steak before games.
It is worth noting that Michael Jordan was one of the biggest ambassadors for McDonald’s at the time he started playing, even starring in one of the most popular basketball ads of all time – the McDonald’s spot alongside Larry Bird.
