Horace Grant played 17 seasons in the NBA. In the first 6, he was playing alongside a certain Michael Jordan and won 3 NBA titles until His Airness’ 1st retirement. He then went on to play with 3 other teams, winning another title backing up Shaquille O’Neal.
In those 17 seasons, he earned over $67 million in salary. After retiring, he started receiving pension from the NBPA as all retired players do after they have played a certain number of years in the league. Considering he played for that many number of years, the amount was going to be substantial.
As per the latest CBA, a player gets $1,001.47 every month for each year they play in the NBA. In CBA’s of the past, the amount was less than half. Even then, it was considered to be a good amount to meet basic needs.
Grant’s pension would have been approximately $170,000 a year. The only problem is, as the Georgia native would go on to explain while on the Child Support is Fraud podcast, why he does not see a penny from it.
This is what the child support agency tried to do to me. It’s called a QDro. Qualified Domestic Relations Order. They went after my pension.

The 4-time champion then went on to reveal that the QDro would have been void if a judge did not sign the affidavit within 180 days. However, a few weeks after the period lapsed, Horace Grant was informed that a judge had signed the affidavit and his pension was frozen.
Horace Grant details how Child Support Services defrauded him
Horace Grant knew the law. But even then, when a signed affidavit was produced, Child Support Services proceeded to freeze his pension. The money from his pension would go to the mother of his children. He then details how the law was bypassed.
Her name is Erin M. Childs, who was the fake judge in my divorce. I got receipts.

It is unclear if the fake judge he named was actually fake or not, but as per him, Child Support Services got her signature on the affidavit and proceeded to freeze his pension account. Grant claims it is the same judge that passed on the judgment during his divorce proceedings.
Considering he is referring to his divorce, it seems this child support services fraud was to help his ex-wife, Donna Grant, who is also the mother of one of his sons. The former All-Star, however, did not mention the current state of affairs of that fraud, or if he managed to recover his pension.
Horace Grant did not appreciate Michael Jordan’s ‘Last Dance’
Horace Grant played with Michael Jordan for 6 years and won 3 titles. Usually, that would indicate that the two might have been close teammates, as it takes chemistry to pull off something that great. However, they were not particularly close, but as per the former Chicago Bulls star, they were not enemies either.

When the Last Dance documentary came out, it was mostly about His Airness and how he delivered the 2nd three-peat before retiring. But Grant believes the documentary was nothing about the Chicago Bulls, and he was particularly dismayed at Jordan’s attempts to paint him a snitch.
In a radio interview with Kap and Co. on ESPN 1000 back in 2020, Grant clapped back at his former teammate’s attempts to label him a snitch. Instead, he pointed to Jordan’s rookie season, where his decision to report a teammate should be the definition of a ‘snitch’.
Grant also took offense to how the 6-time champion tried to portray Scottie Pippen in a bad light. That has resulted in some fractured relationships among the former Bulls teammates, and in the words of Horace Grant, the respect is there, but it would not matter if they did not talk to each other.
