Paris Olympics almost brought out a gaffe from Michael Phelps courtesy of Team USA star Devin Booker
The recently concluded Paris Olympics was a great opportunity for athletes from other sporting disciplines to watch the Team USA men’s and women’s teams compete. The best basketball players in the world drew the likes of swimming great Michael Phelps. As generally, athletes from other disciplines do not know the nitty-gritty parts of the sport, Devin Booker, seated beside Phelps decided to take advantage of it.
The video, shot on Devin Booker’s Handy Cam shows him recording the most decorated Olympian keenly watching the game. In one instance, the ball came towards them. Phelps pushed the basketball back onto the court.
Don't do that. You were supposed to shoot that man.Devin Booker told Michael Phelps
To that Phelps asked, “Am I?” When Booker reiterated that Phelps was supposed to shoot the ball instead of passing it, the swimmer had a hilarious reply.
Stop. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with it. I’m a water guy, I don’t know what I’m supposed to do.Michael Phelps replied
Michael Phelps knew something was up which is why he too along with others around them were laughing. The Phoenix Suns star was trolling the swimmer on that one unwritten rule. The unwritten rule is that if the ball goes out of bounds, generally the referees are supposed to retrieve the ball. That is, the audience are not allowed to hand over the ball directly to the players. The swimming legend did not know that. Booker took advantage of his ignorance and tried to trick Phelps.
But it goes to show that Devin Booker did not hesitate to troll even though Phelps is one of the most prolific athletes ever. On the other hand, the 23-time gold medalist was a good sport and took the trolling in his stride.
Devin Booker had a blast with Snoop Dogg and Tony Hawk
Before the above women’s basketball game, the Phoenix Suns star went around the Olympic village to take in all the different sporting activities. The skateboarding finals drew his attention. When he arrived at the games, the organizers asked him to join the VIP area.
To his surprise, rapper Snoop Dogg was there to cheer Team USA on. While skateboarding legend Tony Hawk was also at hand. Booker looked like he was enjoying the time there. Joking with Dogg, chatting with Hawk and observing the participants go through their tricks.
Booker used his trusted Handy Cam to record all the footage. A device that has long been obsolete since the development of camera technology and mobile phones. But that did not stop the 2-time Olympic gold medalist from recording some of the best footage from the Paris Olympics.
