In Short
  • Michael Porter Jr. has been criticized for his controversial opinions, including promoting misogynistic content.
  • Madison Pettis labeled him a 'psychopath' during a podcast, citing their past relationship.
  • The Brooklyn Nets are struggling this season, with Porter Jr. as their leading scorer but facing a 17-48 record.

Over the years, Michael Porter Jr. has built a reputation as a gifted basketball player who might become the next big superstar once he finds his footing with the Brooklyn Nets.

At the same time, the Missouri native has also built a reputation for having bizarre opinions on various topics, be it dating, the NBA, or anything in general.

The 6’10” forward also has a penchant for talking about bizarre subjects, some of which have left fans questioning his mindset and how he goes about life.

Then there were his bizarre claims that he would make women in his life watch misogynistic Andrew Tate videos just to see how they react to them. On top of that, he has also voiced how women nowadays do not want to help with household chores, and just want to enjoy luxury.

My ex is now in the NBA. When we dated, he was in high school and college. I broke up with him before he was in the league because he was a psychopath.

Madison Pettis said on In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele

This was the 27-year-old’s response when host Owen Thiele asked if the actress would see herself as a ‘basketball wife.’ The actress who played Dwayne Johnson‘s daughter in Game Plan seemingly suggested that she broke up with Michael Porter Jr. because he was a psychopath.

Madison Pettis then went on to say that she generally believes that athletes are not great partners. However, she did not rule out ever getting involved with another. Just that it would not be someone like the Brooklyn Nets star.

Michael Porter Jr. doubles down on showing Andrew Tate videos to women

Madison Pettis drew that assumption based on her few months being together with Michael Porter Jr., nearly a decade ago. It seems that opinion stands true to date, especially when the Nets star had this to say when asked about his Andrew Tate video comment.

I can’t be wasting my time with these girls that think completely different from me.

Michael Porter Jr. replied

The former 14th overall pick doubled down on using misogynistic Andrew Tate videos to check how women respond. Host Emily Austin suggested she found it cringeworthy that MPJ would do this.

However, he backed his logic by suggesting that he does not want his women to be on a different stratosphere than him. That is why he plays Tate’s wildest videos, just to see how they react.

Later, when the 2023 NBA champion tried to justify Andrew Tate’s recent behavior, Austin shot back, letting him know that nothing can justify the controversial former kickboxer’s actions and words.

Michael Porter Jr.’s Nets are struggling mightily

Other than his wild opinions, Michael Porter Jr. is currently doing his job as the best player for the Brooklyn Nets. He is officially their best scorer and rebounder.

At one point in this season, his 24.2 points average made many think the Missouri alum was going to earn his first All-Star call-up. However, those numbers have not helped the Brooklyn Nets have a good season.

The franchise is languishing in the Eastern Conference with a 17-48 record. That makes them the fourth-worst team in the league. That position could also be under threat if they lose most of the 16 games remaining this regular season.

It has been a while since the Brooklyn Nets tasted consistent winning, and this season, it is again going to be a situation where the franchise is working to figure out which players to draft.

However, the team needs to rethink its plan of action, as the six players they drafted last year have not helped the franchise change its fortunes. Michael Porter Jr. might be the best player, but he needs pieces around him to turn this organization around.
