“On the defense she would get cooked but…” Michael Porter Jr. names Caitlin Clark as ONLY women’s athlete who can play in NBA
The highly decorated Iowa guard will look to replicate her college basketball exploits.

Women’s basketball gained significant attention recently, largely thanks to Caitlin Clark, the star player for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Although the team fell short in the championship game, Clark’s performance throughout the tournament was remarkable. Now drafted as the number one pick by the Indiana Fever, Clark is poised to make her debut in the WNBA, having already played her first preseason game.
The number one pick of the 2024 WNBA draft did not disappoint in the pre-season debut. Clark dropped 21 points while knocking down three triples. Caitlin Clark is one of the best shooters to have ever played in women’s basketball. To add to these talks, Michael Porter Jr., the Denver Nuggets small forward, recently compared and put forth a hypothetical situation if Clark plays in the NBA.
Caitlin's cold, that's the one girl... Okay if she was in an NBA game, yeah on defense she would get cooked. But offensively, like she'll knock down some corner threes or like a swing-swing three, like 'cause she can shoot from that far, you know.said Michael Porter Jr. on the recent episode of the ‘Full Send’ Podcast
Clark showcased her shooting prowess by hitting over 37% of her three-point shots in her final college basketball season. With her impressive range and ability to shoot off the dribble, the 22-year-old’s shooting skills are comparable to those seen in the NBA. There’s little doubt that Clark could sink several three-pointers in an NBA game, even against tough defense.
Caitlin Clark gets warned by Diana Taurasi before WNBA debut
Recently, WNBA veteran Diana Taurasi called out Clark as she was about to make her professional debut. Though following her pre-season debut, Clark’s performance had everyone shaken, Taurasi was pretty clear with what she meant while calling out Clark.
The reality is coming. There's levels to this thing. And that's just life we all went through it... You look superhuman playing against 18-year-olds, but you're going to come with some grown women that have been playing professional basketball for a long time.Diana Taurasi said on Sportscenter
While the WNBA season is set to tip off on May 14th, Clark will continue to warm up for her season debut. Clark led the Hawkeyes for four straight years. The guard will look to do the same in her rookie season.
On the other hand, Angel Reese will also be making her debut, being one of the most anticipated players to step foot on the WNBA hardwood alongside Clark. Both the rookies will be facing each other for the first time on June 1st.
