Since leaving the Denver Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. has been on a run of appearances on various platforms, speaking his heart out. The now Brooklyn Nets star’s every word has been quite the treat for basketball fans.
First, he seemingly defended his brother, Jontay Porter‘s, gambling addiction with a bizarre explanation of how people have their own vices. While explaining that, he revealed his vice was women.
He then stoked further controversy when he revealed that NBA players do get lured into faking an injury to help their friends win a lot of money through gambling.
By now, others in and around sports media have started asking the 27-year-old to stop discussing such matters, particularly those involving sports betting, as it could lead to an investigation that could hamper his career.
Porter Jr. turned back to his vice, which is women, when he appeared as a guest on the Glory Daze podcast. This time, he revealed something about teammate Nikola Jokic.
It was tough saying goodbye to my teammates… They just all kinda texted in the group chat, and the only thing Nikola (Jokic) said was, ‘wrap it up out there in NYC’. He said, ‘Make sure you wear a condom out there.’ That’s all he said. That was his message, that was his goodbye to me.

The Missouri star knows that his former teammate was joking about his affinity towards women. The Serbian just wanted to give some advice that could keep MPJ safe. He is, after all, going to play in a city of many opportunities.
Fans lose their minds over Nikola Jokic’s advice to Michael Porter Jr.
Basketball fans know Nikola Jokic as a fun individual who loves his family and his horses more than basketball. The three-time league MVP is not one to get accustomed to the wild partying lifestyle available in some places in America.
Therefore, for him to give such advice to a teammate who could find himself swayed by those opportunities left fans in splits. The Serbian was looking out for his former championship-winning running mate.
But at the same time, fans believe he was not going to ask Michael Porter Jr. to put a lid on his vice. Jokic understands what makes MPJ tick and wants him to enjoy it safely. Check out examples of fans’ reactions to this advice below:

It is not unusual for teammates to know each other’s likes and dislikes, especially when these two spent 6 seasons together and won a championship. However, this advice from someone like Nikola Jokic proves how unhinged he is when he is not on the basketball court.
Nikola Jokic’s playoff comments might have led to Michael Porter Jr.’s exit
When the Denver Nuggets drafted Michael Porter Jr., the expectation was that he would be the third most important player on their squad. That was much the case until they traded for Aaron Gordon.

The quartet’s combined performances helped the franchise win its first-ever NBA title. However, since that win, there have been times when analysts as well as fans have called on the Missouri native to up his game.
They felt he was too passive and was not playing to his potential. It is not known if their schemes were at fault or the player himself. Nikola Jokic’s comments during this past playoffs seemed to indicate he did not appreciate MPJ’s lack of passion towards the game.
Understandably, Porter Jr. was playing through an injured shoulder. That did not matter to Jokic, who demanded the best no matter what the situation was.
Eventually, the Nuggets seemed to have caught on to that notion and believed they were better off without the 6′ 10″ star. They traded him away and essentially brought in 4 players for less than the nearly $36 million they have to pay him every year.
