In February 2024, Mick Foley announced that he was thinking about having one last professional wrestling match. The motivation for this was not fame or money but rather that it would encourage him to lose weight. The hardcore legend recently provided some updates regarding a potential in-ring return.

In a recent YouTube video, Mick Foley gave an update on his one-year weight loss journey. He mentioned that he was 377 lbs when he began. He felt terrible, and it was a heart attack waiting to happen. His aim was to get down to 280 pounds by June 7th, his birthday, and participate in a Death Match.

However, Foley suffered a concussion while training and decided to call it off. He figured that if such little physical activity did that to him, his body would not be able to take a full-length hardcore match. The erstwhile Mankind even mentioned wanting to do an elbow drop off of a TV truck onto a car hood. He believed that this would undo all the benefits that his hip replacement had done for him.

Unfortunately, training a little bit in the ring, I got a slight concussion and I thought, ‘If I got a concussion from that little bit that I did, what I plan do to in the deathmatch would likely kill me.’

Foley said that it was a serious risk that could leave him numb, give him a serious concussion, or make him lose the ability to walk without discomfort, which the hip replacement had tremendously helped him with. Even though he started to gain weight during that time, he still felt much better than he previously had. Regardless, he made great strides in his weight loss journey and claimed to weigh 279 lbs at the time of the video.

Is Mick Foley entering the Royal Rumble?

Mick Foley seems to have ruled out the possibility of a Death Match for now. However, if he really itches to step back into the squared circle, the Royal Rumble can be a great way to do so. The match is famous for returning legends making short appearances to put talent over. Furthermore, he doesn’t have to appear on weekly TV to build a feud or worry about putting on a good singles match for the audience.

During the same video, Foley said that he was not entering the Royal Rumble as it was pretty big. However, he did tell his fans not to rule out the possibility. At the end of the video, the 59-year-old received a call and teased that it was from Triple H asking him to make an appearance at the upcoming PLE.

I wouldn’t say I’m not entering the Royal Rumble, but I’m not entering the Royal Rumble. That’s a pretty big leap.

The recent era of professional wrestling has witnessed legends of the past come back to WWE before they truly hang up the boots for good. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin had a Night 1 Main Event at WrestleMania 38, and even Ric Flair said that he had one more match left in him. It would be interesting to see if Foley can make something happen as well.
