For his contributions to Vince McMahon‘s business, WWE inducted Donald Trump into its Hall of Fame class of 2013. Also in the same class was none other than Mick Foley. Recently, the former WWE Champion detailed his experience of being inducted during the same weekend as Trump. Furthermore, Foley revealed why he was frustrated with the experience and, more specifically, with the President-elect.

While speaking with Inside The Ropes, Foley admitted that it was an honor to be a part of the Hall of Fame class. In fact, it ended up being one of the last times that he performed in front of a large crowd. Following the ceremony, however, Foley had to wake up at 7 am to rehearse his HOF walkthrough for WrestleMania. Foley couldn’t understand why such little work required him to wake up early. Additionally, Trump wasn’t even at the rehearsals, which further antagonized him.

I was looking at Trump like, he didn’t have to wake up at 7 a.m. So, I was just inside, and it’s more than just the horrible policy, but I held a grudge against Donald Trump for not having to get up at 7 a.m.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the only time that Foley has spoken against Trump. During election season, The Hardcore Legend voiced concerns about the possibility of the 78-year-old coming into power. Foley felt insulted after Trump had asked The Undertaker on the latter’s podcast if wrestling actually hurts. Also, Foley lambasted Undertaker’s claims of Trump “making politics fun again.”

Following Trump’s triumphant win, Mick Foley expressed his sadness on social media. Undertaker and Foley weren’t the only wrestling legends who indulged in the political world. While Kane joined his former tag team partner in supporting Trump, Dave Bautista publicly endorsed Kamala Harris. The wrestler-turned-actor released a two-minute video tearing into Trump’s masculinity.

Donald Trump and his history with WWE

Some might ask: Did Donald Trump deserve a WWE Hall of Fame induction? Vince McMahon himself inducted his friend into the 2013 class. The friendship between the two businessmen circles back to the late 1980s when Trump offered the Trump Plaza to host back-to-back WrestleMania (4 and 5).

Decades later, Trump entered an on-screen rivalry with McMahon labeled as the “Battle of the Billionaires.” At WrestleMania 23, Trump’s representative, Bobby Lashley, defeated McMahon’s representative, Umaga. Due to the pre-decided stipulation, Trump shaved McMahon’s hair following the bout.

Furthermore, Trump ate a Stunner from special guest referee Steve Austin as well. Two years later, Trump bought WWE’s flagship weekly show, Monday Night Raw, in storyline. This would end up being his last presence on programming before his aforementioned Hall of Fame induction.
