Week 12 of the 2025 NFL season is officially underway, and the likes of Drake Maye and his New England Patriots would be preparing to be the first team to win 10 games this season.

If they manage to overcome, Joe Burrow, who is possibly returning after being more than two months out with a foot injury, they would cement themselves as the top team in the league. Usually, when a team manages to achieve such a feat with more than 6 more games to go, they generally are looked at as favorites to contend to win Super Bowl LX.

They have to be at their absolute best, as there is a slew of teams looking to snatch that opportunity. So do the Philadelphia Eagles, who, despite their locker room drama, are firmly in the hunt to repeat as Vince Lombardi Trophy winners.

Few of the early-season favorites are struggling, namely the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Buffalo Bills. Then there are others who have managed to win a lot of games but are still not there yet when it comes to being tipped as championship contenders.

Even though there is still time for one of those teams to jump these three, the following teams are mid-season favorites to overthrow the Eagles as champions.

Drake Maye’s Patriots are solid

When it comes to Drake Maye and his New England Patriots, many were probably sleeping on this team, as they did not expect the franchise to post a joint league-leading 9-2 record.

Many felt they would win more games than last time, especially with Mike Vrabel leading them into battle. But no one could believe their eyes when the Patriots kept winning consistently.

They have won 8 straight games, and still have two to go before enjoying some rest in Week 14. Their next two opponents are also struggling, which should see the Patriots win both, unless they commit mistakes.

It seems Vrabel has drilled it into the team that not making mistakes is non-negotiable. They have not, and even though some might not find the Massachusetts-based team as exciting, sticking to basics has helped them.

Critics might say that Drake Maye is not the quarterback many think he is, or that the team has had an easy schedule compared to others. Despite that, there is a buzz around the team, with some believing they can win by keeping it simple.

Bo Nix and Broncos are some offensive tweaks away from a Super Bowl game

If one has doubts about Drake Maye or the New England Patriots, they cannot take away the fact that Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos, the only other team with a 9-2 record, are not Super Bowl LX favorites.

Yes, they have had some problems on offense recently, and even though the young QB might try to deflect the situation, his head coach, Sean Payton, knows he needs to tweak things.

They have also won 8 games in a row, and the latest against the Chiefs was a statement victory. Unlike the Patriots, they have defeated the defending champion Eagles during that run.

Once they get their offense humming again, it will be difficult to stop a team that can and has put up a league record number of points in the 4th quarter.

Even if the offense takes time, their standout defense should give Bo Nix and his unit enough time to get their act together. That unit has made many a good quarterback look weak, and unless they are ravaged by injuries, they should continue to do so.

Matthew Stafford and the Rams will be a problem

If some fans and analysts are still unsure about the two younger teams on this list, they should not have a problem believing that Matthew Stafford and his Los Angeles Rams are bona fide Super Bowl LX contenders.

Just like the Broncos, Sean McVay‘s defense is also up there as one of the better units in the league. Pair that with Stafford’s MVP-esque performances and his elite offensive squad, and the mixture is a recipe for success.

McVay has ensured that his team plays the game the right way and puts in the work needed to be at their best. No wonder that without any superstars, the defense has been playing at an exceptional level.

Most importantly, Stafford and McVay know how to win a Super Bowl. When the game slows down in the postseason, they have an edge over many contenders, as they can play chess confidently while others play checkers.

Last season, they could not make good on their late-season run. This time, they will ensure that they do not take their situation for granted. With many early-season favorites possibly falling by the wayside, the Rams can hoist Super Bowl LX in California.
