The most dominating headline in the NFL right now is with the situation surrounding Aaron Rodgers. Ever since he decided to skip the New York Jets’ mandatory minicamp, the entire footballing world has been on fire. Everyone including his head coach had something to say about the situation. However, legendary radio host Mike Francesa had a point to make about Robert Saleh‘s leadership ability.
Mike Francesa was speaking on his podcast, The Mike Francesa Podcast, earlier today. The radio host went on another one of his famous rants about Saleh’s handling of the situation.
Saleh who doesn’t know how to handle any situation. Handled this terribly this week. He is a puppet in this game. How could you be fine with it if it’s an in-excused absence? It’s either mandatory or it’s not. And there’s a coach basically saying, ‘I’m here, and I’m at his beck and call. He runs the franchise; I don’t.’ That’s why Saleh has no chance. He has abdicated his own power and given it to the quarterback. You can’t do that as a head coach.Mike Francesa said
Francesa did not stop himself from calling Robert Saleh a puppet. He suggested that the coach has no control over the franchise and its situation.
Mike Francesa believes it is Aaron Rodgers who is running the show in New York, implying that everything that happens in the organization is done after he signs it off. It also suggests that the organization has given a free reign to Rodgers. All in the hopes of a Super Bowl.
Otherwise, how can a player avoid making it to mandatory minicamp? But it seems, the New York Jets, and especially Robert Saleh, is aware of the reason for missing out and do not have a problem.
Aaron Rodgers can shut down the noise by leading the Jets to a Super Bowl
The noise surrounding the entire minicamp fiasco will certainly not be the last for Aaron Rodgers. Often finding himself in the crosshairs with the media, Rodgers has more often than not been criticized, even if he had a perfect day on the gridiron. By now, the 40-year-old is well versed with how things work.
Therefore, he knows the only way to have the last laugh is to win the Super Bowl. He knows that even if he leads the New York Jets to an unbeaten run and win the AFC Championship game, they will still cast doubts leading up to the Super Bowl.
Rodgers knows what the team has done this off-season. With improvements across the board, it is highly likely that the Jets will make it there.
But Aaron Rodgers has to seal the deal. Only then could the likes of Mike Francesa probably forgive him for giving the longtime radio host and other media personalities a hard time.
