The relationship between Micah Parsons and Mike McCarthy hit a new low after the Cowboys lost their sixth game of the season on Sunday. Despite defending the older players, whose contracts expire this year, Parsons threw his head coach under the bus.
Parsons’ unprecedented act surprised coaches and analysts throughout the league. A day later, The Athletic’s Jon Machota reported that McCarthy spoke with Parsons about his comments. The veteran coach revealed Parsons never intended to disrespect him.
Following the humiliating 34-6 defeat to the divisional rivals Philadelphia Eagles at home, the All-Pro pass rusher faced the media inside the locker room and spoke on whether McCarthy will still remain in charge of the team in 2025.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said he and Micah Parsons had a conversation today about this comment.

NFL analyst takes issue with Micah Parsons’ irresponsible comments about Mike McCarthy
Parsons was already in the crosshairs for his business outside of football. It has had an adverse effect on his on-field work ethic.
The uncalled jab at McCarthy was a new low for the 25-year-old linebacker, and retired football player Damien Woody did not appreciate his words.
Damien Woody on Micah Parsons' comments about Mike McCarthy: "Who the hell does Micah Parsons think he is talking like that after a game? Bro, you've been missing all these games with the injury… that's what's going on with all these podcast boys out here in the locker room." pic.twitter.com/WRQZrQanc7

Woody pointed out Parsons’ absence from the team in the last few weeks doesn’t have the right to criticize a Super Bowl-winning head coach. Furthermore, Woody proceeded to take aim at Parsons’ podcast gig and his jointly compiled quarterback list with Cowboys teammate Trevon Diggs but left out their own quarterback Dak Prescott.
Whether this was an attempt from Parsons to attract owner Jerry Jones’ attention to replace McCarthy is unclear. Even if it was, the act proved futile because Jones will not fire any coaches midway through the season. The Cowboys will not have Prescott available for the rest of the year as he will undergo surgery.
