The Dallas Cowboys recently received an earful from franchise legend and Hall of Famer Troy Aikman over the struggling passing game which has seen Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb out of sync during their passing attempts. However, when head coach Mike McCarthy was asked about Aikman’s criticism, he stated that he disagreed with him.
Being frustrated by the team’s continuous failure, Aikman didn’t hold back during his radio appearance on 96.7 The Ticket and attacked the Cowboys’ wide receivers for the poor passing game. He criticized them for running “terrible routes” and being “lazy coming off the line of scrimmage.”
Unlike owner Jerry Jones and quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledging the inconsistency and need for improvement of the team, Dallas’ head coach told the reporters that he doesn’t agree with Aikman’s blunt description of the team’s receiving squad.

Mike McCarthy stressed importance of keeping distractions away from Cowboys players
Dismissing the legend’s take, who brought three out of the Cowboys’ five Super Bowl victories, on the Cowboys’ receiving squad, McCarthy asserted not giving it too much importance. He said he doesn’t consider a need to address it before the locker room as the team can’t afford any ‘distractions’ from the outside.
Coming to the passing game of America’s team, they are ranked second with passing yards per game because of attempting the second-highest number of passes. However, at the same time, their rushing attack is known to be the worst in the league, therefore it’s not wrong to say their impressive passing game is largely to compensate for the rushing attack.
Moving forward, the Cowboys desperately need to improve, which quarterback Prescott emphasized during his post-game press conference while taking responsibility for the bizarre 47-9 loss against the Detroit Lions–when even head coach McCarthy skipped the media interaction.
