The Dallas Cowboys lost yet another match and head coach Mike McCarthy’s frustration was absolutely justified, since he is on the hot seat. However, following the tough loss, he found himself in an awkward encounter with a cameraman that drew significant attention.

Despite being 20-20 in the final moments, the Cowboys couldn’t help but make a blunder after they deflected a punt which cornerback Amani Oruwariye attempted to recover before the Cincinnati Bengals used it to their advantage to score the winning drive. If that wasn’t frustrating enough, McCarthy got hit in the face by a cameraman.

It happened post-game when the Cowboys’ head coach was congratulating the opposing head coach Zac Taylor for the victory. After the cameraman unintentionally hit his camera, McCarthy reacted out of reflex to push him away, which made the former slightly lose his balance.

Given his history of aggression, this incident is widely viewed as McCarthy venting his frustration by shoving the cameraman in anger. The cameraman was trying to capture McCarthy’s post-game interaction with Taylor from a close angle which took the Cowboys head coach by surprise, and he reacted involuntarily.

This defeat brought back the looming black clouds in Dallas as things had just started to look better for them with a two-game winning streak. But now, they have dropped to a 5-8 season record, and the upcoming weeks aren’t going to be easy for them.

Troy Aikman predicts Mike McCarthy will remain Cowboys coach in 2025

Even though General Manager Jerry Jones hasn’t commented on McCarthy’s uncertain future in Dallas following the 2024 campaign, this eighth loss of the season jeopardizes his job. In the latest episode of the 105.3 The Fan, Cowboys legend Troy Aikman discussed the subject of McCarthy’s future with the team next season.

Short of Bill Belichick, I don’t know who you’re going to bring in that has a better resume. I sense that it’s a team that really believes in Mike McCarthy. I feel the locker room wants him back. I think he’s a really good football coach.

The Hall of Famer also claimed that Jones echoes the sentiment of the Cowboys players about McCarthy, considering him a “good football coach.” If the Cowboys decide to retain McCarthy for another season despite the backlash, he will need to implement significant changes to regain the confidence of the fans.
