Despite defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Mike McDaniel could not bring a smile on his face in the post-match presser. The Miami Dolphins head coach was still upset, processing the unexpected situation wide receiver Tyreek Hill went through before the game.

Hill was on his way to Hard Rock Stadium in his car when the Miami-Dade Police stopped and detained him. Video footage showed the cops pinning Hill on the ground and handcuffing him while he tried his best to plead his case.

By the time cops let him leave, several clips and photographs of Tyreek Hill lying on the floor of the highway surrounded by uniforms and bikes went viral. Naturally, the Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, saw all of it, but he still had a game to focus on.

Hill not only played in the game but also scored an 80-yard touchdown and gained 130 yards after the catch. After the game, a knackered McDaniel stood on the podium and gave thoughts on his star receiver’s near arrest.

It’s been hard for me to not find myself more upset the more I think about it. And that’s because of my teammates and trying to put myself in that situation that they described emotionally, and then knowing more than that, the thing that f**ks me up, honestly, is knowing that I don’t know exactly what that feels like.

He refused to further comment on the matter because the Miami-Dade police launched an investigation on the matter. They also stated that the cops who detained Hill were placed on administrative duties, pending the outcome of the internal investigation.

Mike McDaniel praised his Dolphins players for sticking up for Tyreek Hill

On Monday, a video taken from one of the cops’ body-cam was released on social media, which painted a better picture of what went down with Hill. It also showed the Dolphins’ defensive tackle Calais Campbell and tight end Jonnu Smith, trying to help calm the police down and defend their teammate, but even they ended up in handcuffs.

McDaniel said he was ‘super proud’ of his Dolphins players who stood up for what they believed in.

Two things did come from the adversity. I’m super proud of teammates being teammates, and super proud of our guys understanding the civic responsibility of a platform and intending to do right by it.
Mike McDaniel added

In his perspective, this sort of incident should be viewed with utmost sincerity and swiftly so that there are loose ends.

I am confident everything will get reviewed. I’m confident this is too much in the spotlight to sweep under the rug, [so I feel like what] I don’t know now; it’s not my time to know. But I think facts supersede everything, so I think it’s important for people to allow a fair process for all information to be distributed.

Tyreek Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, later told FOX News that his client may consider taking legal action against the officers if the police department takes the necessary steps to resolve the matter first.
