This season, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa have been receiving heat for the way they have handled the team this season.
On one hand, the quarterback has been deflective, has thrown his teammates under the bus, and has been extremely turnover-friendly in games.
The latter can be attributed to the reason the Dolphins were 2-6 heading into Week 9. Then, when the fully healthy Baltimore Ravens came into town, that record dropped to 2-7.
The Dolphins could not handle Lamar Jackson on his return, as they gave up touchdowns in the first two quarters. In response, all the home team could do was kick a field in both sessions.
Late in the first half, they had the chance to reduce the deficit further. Tagovailoa used nearly 5 and a half minutes to drive his team from their own 20-yard line to the Ravens’ 13.
After running back De’Von Achane could not move the line of scrimmage on a 3rd and 2, head coach Mike McDaniel decided to go for it on 4th down. This time, he lined up Achane to catch the ball.
After Tua Tagovailoa received the ball, he read the defense and tossed it up for his running back. The problem was that Achane hadn’t reached the end zone.

As the ball bounced on the field, McDaniel tilted his head back and shut his eyes for a split second. It seems he was stunned by the throw, as his QB missed his target by a mile.
Dolphins fans boo Mike McDaniel, Tua Tagovailoa, and team over horrible play
Had Tua Tagovailoa connected on that throw, they could have possibly started the second half with just a one-point deficit. That could have given them the impetus to battle and try to win the game.

Instead, the offense went silent over the rest of the game. Even the defense struggled as they allowed Lamar Jackson to connect for 4 touchdowns.
Miami Dolphins fans, watching and supporting the team despite its tumultuous season, saw that their team showcased no real ability to battle. Midway through the third quarter, they expressed their frustrations.
After losing 10 yards from a punt recovery team penalty, 6 yards on a sack, and 1 yard on a failed run, Tua Tagovailoa lined up at Miami’s 6-yard line to try to cover 17 yards for a 1st down.
Once the Hawaiian QB received the ball, he realized none of his receivers were open. He turned to throw the ball to De’Von Achane, but threw it behind his running back.

As the ball bounced out of bounds, Dolphins fans let out a loud round of boos. It was evident that they were witnessing poor performances from all the players on the team.
Mike McDaniel gives bizarre summary of Dolphins’ loss to Ravens
If owner Stephen Ross were to listen to the boos from the fans, his earlier patience could get tested. Mike McDaniel, who was touted to be on the hot seat, did not help himself after the game.
I think we came to play. I think it was obvious in the first half that we could go toe to toe. But it’s pretty simple…generally, it’s a bad omen to be very capable of being in the lead, and being behind.

The 42-year-old’s words suggest his team proved they can battle the likes of the Baltimore Ravens. The score, the game footage, and the reaction of fans might not agree with that logic.
