‘Middleweight has got to be in my future’ – Mike Perry frustrated with staying in the welterweight division
Mike Perry is back. ‘Platinum’ will be taking on Daniel Rodriguez this weekend at UFC on ABC 2. This will be his first fight since ‘that’ Tim Means fight at UFC 255, wherein he missed weight by a staggering 4.5 pounds. A large black cloud loomed over Perry’s future then, but UFC President Dana White had full faith in Perry, and here he is!
However, cutting weight still seems to be a problem for the tough-as-nails Perry, as he took to Twitter to claim that he needs to move to the middleweight division, since staying in shape for the welterweight division “has been taking a toll on him”. He believes that his future lies in the middleweight division.
‘I can’t go on living like this’ – Mike Perry
“Bro dieting and cutting weight is the worst. I can’t go on living like this. Middleweight has got to be in my future,” Perry tweeted, last month.
An irate Perry tweeted, yesterday, “Weight cuts have me thinking about changing careers. Maybe buy a food truck and cook. I’m starving.”
Perry has fought only in the welterweight division for the majority of his career. During February, this year he expressed interest in fighting middleweights viz. Kevin Holland, Joaquin Buckley, Darren Till.
It surely looks like Mike Perry wouldn’t last long in the welterweight division. The man has an unending passion for eating. But, before that can he beat Daniel Rodriguez, come this weekend?
