After the historic deal signed with CeeDee Lamb, obviously all eyes landed on what happens to Dak Prescott. As it is with the league since a long time, there was no wait for speculations to start pouring in. Amid all the options, Ex-NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum announced something uniquely different: Shedeur Sanders, college superstar, could headline the Dallas Cowboys next year.

In a chat on ESPN’s Get It Up, the former Jets GM shared this thought. Shedeur Sanders, son of ex-NFL star Deion Sanders, is a prospected Top 10 pick at the next NFL Draft. Since college football has started, a lot of conversations have commenced on probable draft picks and storylines. Tannenbaum’s comment, which came as a shock to the co-speakers on his interview, is now gaining traction and relevance.

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the most tarry names in the offseason. Jerry Jones, the owner and GM of the franchise, waited until a couple of days ago to extend Lamb. Jones later added that he isn’t gonna act on Prescott now, which has the QB in fire. In a not so surprising way, Prescott added that he ain’t gonna stick around in Dallas if they won’t announce a good deal for him.

There's a better chance, in my opinion, that Shedeur Sanders could be the quarterback [for the Cowboys] next year than Dak Prescott at this point.

Shedeur Sanders started his collegiate football career at Jackson State under his dad, Deion Sanders. He rose to the team’s starting list pretty soon. The young player won several accolades in the span of two years including being the first freshman from a historically black college/university to win the Jerry Rice Award. The Award is given to the most outstanding freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision.

In 2023, he joined his dad at Colorado Buffaloes after entering the NCAA transfer portal. He was eventually named the starting QB at the Buffaloes. Shedeur has shown an impressive record there as well, prompting critics like Dan Orlovsky to include him in their Top 5 Draft prospects.

Shedeur Sanders and Colorado nail down North Dakota in opener

The Buffaloes, led by Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, took down FCS strongholds North Dakota State Bisons in their opening game of the season. The duo held the 17-time national champions for 31-26 at home.

The 22-year-old Sanders threw for 445 yards and four touchdowns, out of which three were directed at Hunter. Hunter, in fact, outshone Sanders at one point with a bamboozling catch that even LeBron James had to tweet on.

However, Sanders also drew some flak for a specific throw. In the final minutes of the game, Sanders tried to connect with Wester on a deep pass. However, the throw was underpowered, and the play was unsuccessful.

Deion Sanders applauded his son for his personality but rather advised to shed off the good-guy persona on-field sometimes and play aggressively. The Colorado side, although they came out as winners, had some major loopholes too. The defense has a lot of work to do. Moving forward, The Buffaloes will face one of their toughest challenges as they go against Nebraska next week.
