Mike Tomlin feels there’s no need to name Justin Fields as Steelers’ starting QB over Russell Wilson despite 3-0 start

The Pittsburgh Steelers can anticipate third-string quarterback Justin Fields for the fourth consecutive week against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite Fields starting for the game, HC Mike Tomlin has refrained from naming him as his starting quarterback.
Fields have started in all of the Steelers’ uncontested runs after their starting quarterback Russell Wilson suffered an injury in the preseason. Through his agent, coach Tomlin said that veteran quarterback Wilson has not returned as the starter yet since he continues healing from the nagging calf injury. Nevertheless, Tomlin will delay taking a decision for even Week 4 until knowing how healthy Wilson is.
Tomlin said he doesn’t consider it an important measure they must do. He noted that he believed Fields not to care much about it, that he would walk into the facility with the same mindset – to win.
Mike Tomlin's full answer when asked why he hasn't named Justin Fields the starter going forward:

"Because there's no need. I explained to you the variables of the week. It has not changed. He's going to walk in this building with that mindset tomorrow, and so really, there's…
Justin Fields is a strict player who can now focus and concentrate on helping the Steelers since he found his sense of peace which makes him an asset. Former player Ben Roethlisberger earlier added that Fields should remain as their starting quarterback even if Wilson makes a comeback.
Tomlin also shared some insights into what he would be expecting from Wilson once he returns to the field. He added that Wilson should not just be healthy but healthy enough to be productive, provide results and fulfill their objectives.
The 2008-09 Super Bowl champions are currently leading their division, proving the haters wrong– they haven’t finished in 1st place for three seasons now. In 2020, they won 11 straight games before losing the Week 13 game to the Washington football team. The Steelers, if they continue this magical run have a chance at repeating the historic feat.
Pittsburgh Steelers seem perfect but they need to fix one thing
Justin Fields has shown good accuracy, completing 73.3 percent of his passes for 518 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He has stats that befit a former first-rounder in every respect and has given the team wins against the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos, and his team’s most recent against the Los Angeles Chargers.
But there is a big caveat to his success: the team’s average during these games stands at just 17 points per game; Fields has led the Steelers to win games, but the team’s offense has struggled to generate much-scoring output. In Week One, they overcame the Atlanta Falcons 18-10. In the following game against the Denver Broncos, they were even worse with just 13 points on the scoreboard.
The Steelers extended their lead with a win over the LA Chargers, who were unbeaten like the Steelers ahead of the game. The Steelers defeated them 20-10, not much of a positive news there either. The figure needs to improve if they are going to be competing in the postseason. The Bills posted a 47-10 win over the Jaguars on MNF, raising the ranks of the level of competition when the Steelers to get to the playoffs.
