On Saturday, Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout joined an exclusive club. The 3-time MLB MVP clubbed his 400th home run in the MLB and joined the 400 home run club. He would later pen down an emotional message following this huge career milestone.

The moment came in the top of the 8th inning against the Colorado Rockies, when the Angels were leading 2-0. On a 3-1 count against Jaden Hill, Trout connected on a 98 mph sinker.

The outfielder would crush a mammoth 485-foot solo home run to center field to make it a 3-0 game. The Angels ended up winning the game 3-1.

The 11-time All-Star later took to his social media account and made his feelings known. In a post on X, Trout penned down an emotional and heartfelt message to the fans who had supported him throughout his entire career.

400. Last night was surreal. Blessed to play this game I love. Thank you to my teammates, family, and the fans for all the support. Let’s keep it rolling!

Trout is now the 59th player in AL/NL history to reach the 400 home run mark. However, he is just the 20th player to hit all of his home runs with one franchise. He became the Angels’ All-time home run leader in 2020 when he smashed his 300th home run to surpass Tim Salmon.

The Angels star is now just the 2nd active player in the league, after Giancarlo Stanton of the New York Yankees, to reach the 400-homer mark. Stanton himself reached a milestone mark on Saturday as he slammed his 450th home run in MLB.

There is another interesting stat about Trout’s 400 home runs. 200 of this have come at home and the remaining 200 have come on the road.

The 125 games this year are the most Trout has played in a single season since 2019. He once again suffered some injuries this season. A bone bruise earlier this year left him sidelined for a month. Before this injury, he had 9 home runs in 29 games.

Since returning from this injury, his numbers have declined a bit. He has batted with a slash line of .229/.357/.415 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs in this campaign.

Last Sunday, the Angels were crushed 11-2 by the Seattle Mariners. This saw their opponents complete a 4-game series sweep of them. Before this series, the Angels had won 2 successive games against the Minnesota Twins.

After being eliminated from playoff contention, the Angels were swept aside by the high-flying Milwaukee Brewers. The NL Central champions outscored the Angels 23-6 in the three-game sweep.

The Angels then turned their attention towards the Colorado Rockies. A 7-6 loss on Friday turned out to be their 8th successive defeat. It was the Rockies 42nd win of the season and ensured that they will not finish with the worst record in MLB.

A 3-0 win on Saturday for the Angels gave the Anaheim-based side its first win in 9 games. On Sunday, though, the Rockies ended up winning the rubber game and took the series, leaving the Angels with a 70-86 record.

While Mike Trout and the Angels will miss the playoffs for an 11th successive season, they will also once again finish with a negative record. The last time the Angels finished with a positive record was in 2015, when they went 85-77.
