Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Angels suffered a huge injury scare. Their superstar, Mike Trout, once again felt discomfort in his knees and was removed from the game against the Seattle Mariners. On Friday, the American international provided a health update regarding his latest injury and seemed confident about an early return.

In the past few years, Trout has suffered several injuries. In each of the last 4 years, he has missed some game time due to an injury. In 2024, Trout managed to play just 29 games as he underwent 2 meniscus surgeries in his knees.

Ahead of the 2025 season, the team made some changes regarding him. In an attempt to keep him healthy, the American League West side transitioned him from a center fielder to a right fielder and moved him to the right field.

Things seemed to be going well for him as he was once again blasting home runs. On Wednesday, April 30, Trout experienced some pain in his left knee as he tried to beat out the throw at first base.

He would later exit the game. It was later announced that he will be going on the 10-day injured list due to a bone bruise. He though is confident that he will not be sidelined for a long time.

Well, there’s no structural damage. Yesterday, I was in some pain.
Today, I can walk normally. The doctor said just stay off it for a couple of days, then get back into it slowly and go.

Mike Trout told the reporters

Trout has a slash line of .179/.264/.462 with 9 home runs and 18 RBI through 29 games this season. Apart from that, he has one double and one triple through the 14 hits he has had this year.

When can Mike Trout possibly return to the Los Angeles Angels?

Mike Trout has become an unpleasant theme for the Los Angeles Angels fans. In the absence of the 11-time MLB All-Star, the team has struggled heavily. Given that he is confident about an early return, when can he actually get back on the field?

Trout was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a bone bruise in his knees on Friday, May 2. So the earliest he could return to action is May 12, the day when the Angels begin their first game of the road series against the San Diego Padres.

When a player goes on the 10-day injured list, they cannot be activated from the list before the 10-day timeline even if the player feels healthy. A player can be transferred from a 10-day injured list to a 15-day, 30-day, or even 60-day list if their condition worsens. As in the case with Mike Trout this time, the injury is not as serious as his previous ones, and he can return to action once that 10-day window expires.

Angels snap 7-game losing run against Tigers in absence of Mike Trout

After getting swept by the Minnesota Twins and the Seattle Mariners, the Los Angeles Angels suffered another Mike Trout injury blow. The team, which was on a 5-game losing run, lost 2 more times in the absence of the 3-time American League MVP. On Saturday, though, the team finally bounced back and snapped that 7-game losing run with a 5-2 win.

Starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks dominated the proceedings from the mound against the Detroit Tigers. The right-handed pitcher threw 7.2 innings and gave up just 1 run on 4 hits while also picking up 3 strikeouts.

On the other hand, Luis Rengifo and Kyren Paris took up the offensive role. The duo drove in 2 runs each to help the Angels pick up an important victory on their home turf.

The Angels who started the season 9-5, are now 13-19 after this win. While, they are still at the bottom of the AL West standings, they would be hoping to split this 4-game series against the Tigers with a win in their next match.
