On Sunday, Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout got hit by a pitch once again in the series against the Seattle Mariners. This incident did not sit well with MLB fans on social media and sparked several wild reactions.

In the series opener on Friday, Trout faced two high pitches from Mariners’ starting pitcher Bryan Woo. This development took place in the bottom of the first inning with Trout leading off for the Angels.

The 3-time American League MVP first faced a high fastball up near his head. He was able to duck away just in time. On the very next pitch, Woo ended up hitting Trout. His high fastball would catch the batter on his shoulder.

This hit by pitch sparked loud boos from the crowd at Angel Stadium. The home fans were not happy to see their superstar getting hit by a pitch, considering his recent health struggles. After the hit, Trout would glare at the Mariners starter.

The Angels would lose the game 3-1 after 10 innings. They bounced back with a 1-0 win on Saturday, which included an impressive defensive performance from Jo Adell, who robbed 3 home runs. This made the clash on Sunday a rubber game.

With the Angels leading 6-5 in the bottom of the 8th inning, Trout came up to bat once again. He was 1-for-4 in the game with a double in the third inning.

On a 0-1 count, pitcher Casey Legumina caught him with a 94 mph fastball on the left hand. The 11-time All-Star dropped his bat and was seen in huge pain. He would later leave the game due to this hit.

Given his injury record in the past few years, fans feared for the worst. Fortunately, he avoided a serious injury as his X-Ray came back negative. As per Angels reporter Rhett Bollinger, he is day to day with a contusion.

The Angels, meanwhile, walked off the Mariners 8-7 after 11 innings. A sacrifice fly from Nolan Schanuel saw them take the series against their AL West division rivals.

While speaking with the reporters, the American international expressed that he understood why they were throwing high and in. However, he claimed that they needed to do a better job of controlling the pitch’s location.

We know where they’re trying to get me out, fastballs up and in, so it’s just frustrating. You know, if you can’t control it up there, you shouldn’t do it. So it is what it is.

The Angels, who are 5-5 after this series win, will face the Atlanta Braves next. After that, they will be on a 7-game road trip, taking on the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Yankees.
