Dricus Du Plessis successfully defended his UFC middleweight championship against Israel Adesanya at UFC 305. As such, the South African star extended his undefeated run in the promotion. It was an entertaining fight that caught the attention of many fans worldwide. This also includes the legendary Mike Tyson‘s former coach and popular boxing trainer Teddy Atlas.

The fight was going evenly until the fourth round when Dricus Du Plessis got a hold of Izzy and submitted him. It was the first time Adesanya got submitted in his entire professional career. As usual, DDP used his unorthodox fighting style with unorthodox striking to put pressure on Adesanya. Teddy Atlas also reviewed the fight and discussed the hidden specialty of Du Plessis’s fighting style.

There is nothing dynamic looking about what he does until he does it. Until he gets the end result. But up to then, it's very deceiving and misleading. He's the perfect example of that old saying, ‘Never judge a book by its cover.’

Atlas talked about how Du Plessis uses his huge structure to his advantage and is more technically subtle. The legendary coach also compared the middleweight champion with Oleksandr Usyk about having that drive to win fights. Coming from someone who has seen young Mike Tyson’s killer instinct up close, it’s essential to notice.

Tyson and Atlas have a grim past. It came to a point where the trainer pointed a gun at Tyson for alleged advances on Atlas’ niece. However, after time, both individuals have somehow mended their relationship. As it turns out, Atlas is also looking forward to Tyson’s next boxing battle against Jake Paul.

Coach talks about Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul

At the age of 58, Mike Tyson decided to return to professional boxing. ‘Iron Mike’ will take on Jake Paul on November 15th inside the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. As expected, the fight has garnered a lot of criticism. On the other hand, many are also excited to see Tyson back in the ring.

Going into the fight, both fighters recently did their press conference in New York. Paul lost no opportunity to mock Tyson and get into his head via trash-talking. Teddy Atlas also talked about the fight on his YouTube channel. According to Atlas, despite Tyson’s age, he is still a big threat.

I think this is a very dangerous fight for Paul I think he might be making a mistake. Apart from money and he’s made plenty of money, there isn’t much to winning on his side because if he wins they say Tyson was 58 years old and if he loses they say you lost to a 58-year-old. For me, he’s got a lot more to lose than Tyson.

The fight was initially scheduled to take place in July, but it was postponed due to Tyson’s health issues. However, Tyson is now feeling perfectly fine and ready to fight and step inside the ring. Given the hype around the fight, it is expected to garner at least 75 million viewers on Netflix.
