The New England Patriots are close to striking a deal with Mike Vrabel as their head coach and he might bring Josh McDaniels with him as the offensive coordinator.

Mike Vrabel reportedly aced the interview with the New England Patriots. After spending a year as the consultant/advisor for the Cleveland Browns, Vrabel decided to return to coaching which alerted every NFL team that is after a new head coach.
The 49-year-old who won three Super Bowls with the Boston franchise has been the front-runner for the head coach’s position ever since Jerod Mayo was fired. He recently interviewed for the job and according to reports, the Patriots front office is impressed by his methods and ideas.
However, Vrabel might not be the only former Patriot poised for a return to Foxborough. On Saturday, Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported that Vrabel could add Josh McDaniels to his team as the offensive coordinator.
"Look for Vrabel to potentially bring Josh McDaniels [back to New England] as his offensive coordinator."

ESPN’s senior writer Jeremy Fowler hinted that McDaniels might return.
Patriots are close to hiring Mike Vrabel
Bringing back McDaniels has its merits. Despite being unsuccessful as a head coach, McDaniels played a pivotal role in the Patriots’ six Super Bowl triumphs. He started out as the Patriots’ defensive assistant and slowly moved up the ranks to take over as the offensive play-caller and quarterback’s coach. He brought the best out of Tom Brady and perhaps he can do the same with Drake Maye.
It’s getting likelier that Vrabel will be the Patriots next head coach. Boston Globe’s Ben Volin reported that the Patriots are in negotiations to sign Vrabel.

So if Vrabel puts pen to paper then a return for McDaniels would not be out of the cards either. McDaniels’ last job ended in an ugly way. He was coaching the Las Vegas Raiders but bad results led to owner Mark Davis firing him midway through the season.
However, the last time he was with the Patriots they were the sixth-best offense in the league. For example, wide receiver Kendrick Bourne caught 55 passes for 800 receiving yards and scored 5 touchdowns. He failed to replicate the same numbers for three years since then and may be on his way out of the team.

Vrabel and McDaniels can revive the confidence in such players for the Patriots to be heavyweight favorites once again.
