Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta made a surprising statement regarding the club’s recent slump, leaving fans awestruck. The Spaniard manager interestingly claimed that his side deserved to win its six Premier League matches comfortably this season.
The Gunners have not been at their best this term, lagging way behind in the Premier League title race. They have been subpar, to say the least, and stand six points behind league leaders Liverpool on the table. The club has played 16 matches this season, winning eight, drawing six, and losing two, while accumulating 30 points.
The North London side is currently enduring a dry patch, winning just three out of its last eight EPL encounters. Arsenal most recently, was held to a dismal 0-0 draw against 16th-placed Everton. However, manager Mikel Arteta seems to have a different opinion regarding his team’s performance, as he shook off the criticism to praise his side.
Speaking to reporters, the 42-year-old manager claimed that Arsenal deserved to win its last six matches by quite some distance. The Gunners’ last convincing win came against Nottingham Forest, whom they defeated 3-0, back in November. Arteta’s statement was surely a reference to Arsenal’s statistical dominance over Fulham and Everton in the last two matches.

The Gunners have also failed to convert their goal-scoring chances in the last three matches, scoring just thrice. Arsenal and Arteta would definitely need to claim some big wins in the coming months in order to get their title ambitions back on track this season.
Fans slam Mikel Arteta for his recent statements, amid the club’s poor run of performances in the EPL
Mikel Arteta was slammed by fans on social media for his recent defense of Arsenal‘s poor form in the Premier League. Many fans suggested that the Spaniard has failed to take accountability and claimed that it may harm the club’s interests in the future.
Some fans compared Arteta to the likes of former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag and Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou, owing to his lack of accountability. A few others questioned the Spaniard’s credibility while also blaming him for the club’s recent defeats in all competitions. Some fans claimed that the Gunners would end this season trophy-less as well.
Sorry boss i don’t agree, you are responsible for all those missed points, now we need to see a reaction or it will be the 3rd year that we are so close and yet too far from winning the league

In another interview, Arteta defended his Arsenal trophy record by referencing the two Community Shields and the FA Cup that he has won since joining the club in 2019. The Gunners have been on a trophy drought for the last four years, with their last major piece of silverware coming in 2020.
