Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta shockingly confirmed that club right-back and England star Ben White has been ruled out for several months, after having suffered multiple injuries. The 27-year-old full-back most recently underwent a knee surgery, earlier this month.

Ben White has been facing several injury issues this season. He missed a number of matches due to those problems. The 27-year-old remained doubtful and did not feature against Man City, Newcastle and PSG this season. Despite having started Arsenal’s recent match, against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw, White has now been ruled out for several months. He most recently underwent a knee operation. However, the injuries persisted, and White will now undergo a few more surgeries and will remain out of action.

Confirming White’s absence, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta stated that the full-back has been facing different kinds of struggles. The Spaniard exclaimed that the Englishman’s condition has not been improving. He stated that this is the reason why the club had to take the decision to let him have a surgery, protecting him. Despite Arteta not being able to ascertain a return date for the 27-year-old, he stated that it might take a few months. However, Arteta expressed confidence over White’s quick recovery post-surgery.

It’s not been improving. It got to a point a where we have to protect the player and let him have surgery. Unfortunately it’s going to be a few months.

Not just White, Arsenal will also be without full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese defender remains out for an extended period due to a knee injury. In their absence, Arteta has opted to start Jurrien Timber at the right-back position. It is a role quite different from what the Dutchman is accustomed to.

Arsenal lead race to sign young Spanish talent, fulfilling Mikel Arteta’s transfer ambitions

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been looking towards his home country Spain, hoping to rope in several stars from the Spanish league to strengthen his side. One young Iberian talent who has caught Arteta’s eye is 18-year-old Malaga winger Antonio Cordero.

An attacker who has risen from Malaga’s youth system, Cordero has made 13 appearances for the Segunda side this season. He has contributed with three goals and three assists, and could be a perfect addition to Arsenal’s youth side. Cordero has also appeared for the Spanish under-19 side. He most recently, scored and assisted in an under-19 Euro qualifier against Faroe Islands.

Cordero could be available at a bargained price of €2 million, something which the Gunners would be happy to pay. However, they face stiff competition from Aston Villa, Juventus, PSG and a few other top clubs, who are also interesting in signing him.
