Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, in a recent interview, revealed that it would take 114 points for the Gunners to dethrone Manchester City in the Premier League. This comment follows City beating Arsenal to the title in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons.

Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have been Manchester City’s main rivals for the past two seasons, finishing just behind the champions. The Spaniard, a former assistant to Pep Guardiola, has already led Arsenal to their best league points tally in 20 years. Now, he is determined to end the club’s two-decade title drought. Consecutive defeats to City have intensified his ambition to stop them from winning an unprecedented fifth consecutive EPL title.

Speaking to reporters, Arteta emphasized the need for improvement. While acknowledging the team’s progress over the past few seasons, he also highlighted on improving the areas where they fell short of winning major trophies.

Jokingly, he mentioned that Arsenal would need 114 points to secure the league title next season. Arteta made it clear that achieving this would require a collective effort, stressing the need for perfection and consistency.

If the Gunners reach the 114-point mark, they would break Manchester City’s record of 100 points in a single season set in 2017-18. Moreover, it would put them on par with Arsene Wenger‘s legendary ‘Invincibles’ team of 2003-04.
